Manager Profile |

Holloway will unfortunately be remembered by City fans as the man who took the club down to the third tier of English football for the first time in its history when he was manager between 2007-08.
He moved to the Walkers Stadium in controversial circumstances from Plymouth Argyle in November 2007, offering his resignation to the Pilgrims board under mounting speculation that he was about to be offered the vacant manager's position at Leicester. The Argyle board issued a press statement saying he was still contracted to Plymouth, but soon agreed compensation with City for his services. Still, many Plymouth fans weren't happy with the way he went about leaving the club.
He made as good start to his City career, making history when he became the first manager at the club to win his first league game in charge for over 50 years when Leicester beat Bristol City 2-0. But from there it went downhill as Holloway could do little to stop City being relegation to League One for the first time in their history.
They lost to his former club Plymouth on the way, and a run of just nine wins from 32 league games in charge saw City suffer the drop. Holloway and Leicester then parted company, with Nigel Pearson coming in to take charge.
Holloway is certainly a 'character' of the game, with his off-the-wall comments and interviews often grabbing column inches. In his playing days he played for Bristol Rovers, Wimbledon, Brentford and Queens Park Rangers, while going on to have two further stints at Bristol Rovers, his hometown team. He ended up going on to manage the Pirates for five years before getting his chance with Queens Park Rangers, where he helped them to promotion from League One, and Argyle before arriving at City.
After his stint with Leicester, Holloway ironically went on to manage Blackpool and helped them win an unlikely promotion to the Premier League in the 2009-10 season after almost a year out of the game. He could only keep them there for one season, however, with the Tangerines suffering relegation.
