The Bedford-born full-back arrived at Leicester under David Pleat, who was his manager at Luton Town.
He turned professional at Kenilworth and made his league debut on-loan with Lincoln City before returning to Luton only to have his development halted by a serious knee injury. He did return to the Hatters’ famous League Cup-winning team that beat Arsenal, however.
With first-team chances at a premium after the cup win, Johnson decided his future was better suited elsewhere and reunited with Pleat at Filbert Street. He struggled to adapt to his new environment, however, and when Brian Little took over from Pleat, Johnson’s days were numbered and he moved on to play for Barnet, Hitchin Town and hometown club Bedford Town.
