The defender came through the youth ranks at Manchester City and was snapped up on-loan by Sven-Goran Eriksson, his former manager at City, on New Years Day in 2011. Mee spent the rest of the season with the Foxes, making 15 appearances. He'd played just once for Man City - in the Carling Cup earlier in the season - and moved to gain some valuable first-team experience in the Championship.
Mee had already broken into the England U21 set-up before arriving at the Walkers Stadium but more regular first-team action with the Foxes saw him given a first start, when England visited Italy. Things were going well but three minutes from time he gave away a penalty and was sent off to give Italy the only goal of the game and victory. It was reported that Eriksson could look to bring Mee back to Leicester for the 2011-12 campaign but he ended up at Championship rivals Burnley on a season-long loan.
