Scottish forward Freebairn was a good goalscorer but his time with Leicester came to an end in 1898 when he was suspended from the club for off-the-field problems.
He burst on to the scene with hometown club Partick Thistle and was top-scorer in their first-ever season in the Scottish League. He moved on to Abercorn and it was from here Fosse brought him south of the border.
He made an instant impact in Leciestershire, playing outside-right and scoring on his debut against Darwen in September 1896. Early signs of his disciplinary problems came when he was the first Fosse player to be sent off in a league match after insulting a linesman.
His suspension from the club was for a different incident and he didn't play for the club again after that. In total he scored a creditable 17 goals in a Leicester shirt from 48 appearances in all competitions.
He returned to Scotland with East Stirlingshire after leaving Fosse and then made a return to Patrick, helping them to the Scottish Division Two title before prematurely passing away after falling ill midway through a campaign.
