Porter was a product of the Foxes youth set-up and made his debut in the 3-1 victory over Ipswich Town in August 2006. He looked like a promising player until he was stretchered off in a 4-3 League Cup defeat at Chelsea, where he suffered medial collateral ligament damage and was ruled out for three months. The injury in fact ruled him out for the rest of the 2007-08 season.
The following season, despite seemingly fully recovering from his injury, Porter made just one league and one cup match for the Foxes during their promotion season. He joined Mansfield Town in September 2009 with the hope of regaining full match fitness and impressing City to get another chance with his hometown club.
But it never paid off and he was released in May 2010, eventually going on to play for Hinckley United, dropping way down the football pyramid.
