Paisley-born Grogan battled for a right-half starting role in his years both before and after the war in a City shirt, but couldn't make that position his own during his 46 league and 38 war-time appearances as a Fox.
Arriving in October 1933, Grogan had to wait until October 1935 for his debut in an away game at Newcastle United. He featured in ten games as City lifted the Second Division championship two years' later but his best playing days were perhaps hampered by the war.
After the war he was released by City to go to Mansfield Town, where he spent five years and played over 200 matches for the Stags in all competitions. He finished his career as player-manager of Bentley Engineering and also played for St Mirren and Celtic in his early playing days.
