Farnworth-born Jackson's career hadn't gone the way he wanted it when he arrived at Leicester in April 1931 from Chelsea. He'd failed to nail down a regular spot at Stamford Bridge or at previous clubs West Ham, Leeds United and Sunderland and looked for some consistent performances and appearance as a Fox.
They didn't come, with the winger playing just four games for Leicester in a short one-season stint which also included a fine by the club for a fight with City's reserve team goalkeeper.
He was swiftly moved on for spells with Bristol Rovers, Cardiff City and Watford.
