The midfielder arrived at City in 2007 and, after making 30 league starts and scoring two league goals, injuries brought the end of his career.
The son of former England and Spurs goalkeeper Ray Clemence, Stephen turned pro at White Hart Lane but got his real crack at regular first-team action following a move to Birmingham City in 2003, where he spent four years.
Martin Allen was the man to bring Clemence to the Walkers Stadium, for a fee of £1 million. He had Premier League and Championship experience under his belt and Allen saw him as a key signing if the Foxes were to achieve promotion back to the top flight. He was immediately handed the captain's armband but somewhat failed to live up to expectations. Injury cut short his season, and his career, and, after City suffered relegation to League One, he didn't feature again and announced his retirement from professional football in April 2010.
