A stand-in for much of his year-long stay at City, Wright wracked up 15 appearances for the club as back-up to Jim McLaren.
He'd started his career at Birtley before being handed a rapid rise up the football pyramid with Leicester. He wasn't expected to get as many first-team chances as he did with the Foxes but those 15 appearances caught the attentions of the Torquay United scouts, and he headed for the south coast just a year after arriving in Leicester.
It seemed to work well for him - he missed just one match during his first season with Torquay. But a move to Brighton and Hove Albion saw him play just 15 times in two seasons between the sticks and poor health saw him bring his professional career to a premature end.
He went in to the hotel business, taking over a property in Torquay, but Joe sadly died at the age of just 29.
