The Birmingham-born defender spent two years as a Fox, arriving as part of a deal that saw Dennis Jones and Fred Price leave for Southampton, and making his debut in an away clash at Manchester United in August 1924.
He was keen for first-team action when at Southampton and got it at City, for the first season at least as he helped the club to promotion to Division One from the left-back spot. He couldn't hold his place at a higher level though and went on to play for QPR in August 1926.
In total he made 33 appearances for City, with six more coming in the FA Cup. His move to Loftus Road saw him feature mainly in the Southern Section. When he died in 1963 City actually paid for his funeral when no relatives came forward.
