Walters began his football career with Walthamstow Grange and Gravesend before signing for Fosse in October 1913, playing eleven matches and scoring twice before moving on to Abertillery just a year later in what was a relatively short career for a professional footballer.
His debut came in an away clash at Huddersfield Town just before Christmas in 1913, and he arrived at the club with three other former Walthamstow players. All four of those players struggled to make the step-up to the standard Fosse required, however, and Walters soon moved on.
He played on the left wing and was a Kent Senior Cup finalist with Gravesend, but that honour was as good as it got for a man who was also an upholsterer outside of the game.
