The full-backs loan stay at City will unfortunately be remembered for the events at half-time during a game at Nottingham Forest. With City trailing 1-0 at the interval, Clarke collapsed and suffered a cardiac arrhythmia at half-time which forced the match to be called off. Clarke said he was lucky to be alive after the incident and, although wanting to get back into the game, he never returned to a football field and went on to become a football agent.
He made just two appearances at left-back for the club, signing on a three-month deal from Sunderland after a previous loan stint with Coventry City. His debut came in August 2007 at Crystal Palace as then-manager Martin Allen looked for an experienced head to aid youngster Joe Mattock. He started at Stoke City before going on to West Ham and then Sunderland.
With regards to the postponed game, the Foxes allowed Forest to score the opening goal from kick-off in an act of sportsmanship.
