The outside-left was deemed good enough to make the step-up from amateur football by Fosse scouts in February 1911 from Eastwood Rangers.
He spent less than a year in the Leicester blue and white, however, making 12 appearances and adding two goals along the way before a swift drop back down the ladder to play for Mansfield Mechanics in the Central Alliance League.
He later returned to play for Eastwood Rangers, amongst other clubs, and made one senior start for Notts County, his hometown club. Moves to Loughborough Corinthians, Stanton Park Victoria and Grantham Town followed before he hung up his boots.
