Part of the 'one game club', Hughes's debut, and only outing, for the Foxes came in April 1906 when he featured in an away clash at Hull City in the Football League.
Dudley-born, he started his career with Humberstone Victoria before initially signing on as an amateur at left-half. His performances for the club's reserve string were enough to warrant a professional deal but he was back-up and only deputised once in the left-half role at Hull.
After his brief professional stint with Fosse he returned to amateur status and signed on for Leicester Nomads.
