  1. I suspect the photo is taken from Upperton road bridge looking towards the GCR Goods shed and the location that became Frank Berry’s scrap yard. The river Soar was re-aligned slightly to pass under the bridge that is in the foreground and join the straight, canal section to the right. The King Power stadium would be off in your 4 o’clock position where the river and canal meet at the weir by the West stand. It’s pretty hard to interpret from a combination of Google maps and a plan of the old GCR formation from the archive. https://www.railwayarchive.org.uk/track-plans?doc=20 so if I’m incorrect I standby to be corrected…..
  2. It wasn’t Brown’s Blue was it? I seem to remember they were based out Ibstock way though.
  3. Leicester City. The Costa Concordia of English Football. We really are sleepwalking to the Championship. Vichai’s dream turning, every day this goes on, to a nightmare!
  4. Just in…. the Board are under the influence of….. The Hypno-Toad.
  5. I’d love that to have some effect but I’m afraid the views of ‘legacy fans’ don’t count for anything against the financial clout of TV and international ‘fans’ who choose who they watch entirely on success and ability to pay the most in transfer fees and wages.
  6. Personally. I’d like it to be “I have decided to take up another challenge. Goodbye”. However. I won’t hold my breath!
  7. He’s become like a Black Hole sucking all the enjoyment and excitement out of our football. Yes. I respect what he has achieved but the repeating cycle of failure to address the very same issues month in, month out has meant he has to go.
  8. Top question! I’d love to know too. I was there singing the original in the Kop from the 60’s onward and it wasn’t regarded as legendary. Just a song we sang. The real difference was that it was sung at pace until the last verse when it was sung with a sort of ‘club singer’ flourish, and, as been posted previously, the mass waving of hands on the ‘yooooou’. Bit of a laugh and happily optimistic. Not the JB half pace dirge. Just my opinion of course. I’m sure others will differ…..
  9. No. You’re not alone. Other clubs old songs are often equally as bad. Everton and their ‘Grand old club’ song being a particularly naff example..
  10. Yep. That very neatly shows the line linking Southward. The North chord that would allow traffic to route towards Leicester and beyond was removed some time ago and the land is used by the factory units shown on your pic. Of course, with a hefty compulsory purchase and then re-instated track, points and signalling it could be done. If I remember correctly, the plan to re-open the Coalville-Burton route would have replaced this piece of track and meant passenger trains would pass the back of the KP but, despite pressure from the local councils, Network rail and the government wouldn’t cough up any money towards the scheme. Of course, had it been a London commuter route things would have been different and we’d probably all have private carriages to wave at Jenny Agutter out of....
  11. I don’t remember them being specified previously so this might not be comprehensive but...... 1. The North chord of that line was removed at Knighton Junction which would mean trains heading North to Leicester and beyond would have to occupy the main line and occupy train paths whilst reversing course. 2. Train operators seem to have little flexibility to operate ‘special trains’ due to staff and rolling stock availability. If all our games were on Saturday afternoons say, then it’s probably douable but with the endless changes for TV it becomes a real problem. 3. Building a KP station on the embankment and providing staff would, just in my opinion, be quite a costly exercise. New stations are required to incorporate accesibility features for disabled passengers which can sometimes be astronomically expensive. 4. The line Westward towards Coalville isn’t used for passenger services and would, no doubt, require some re-engineering to be cleared for passenger use on a regular basis, and that’s before tackling the fact that a number of the stations on that line have long since closed. as I say. I’m no expert on railways so there are pronbably other things I’ve missed.....On the other hand. A KP handout to run the Park and Ride when there are games on would be a major plus with the ‘Sir Peter Soulsby memorial bus lanes’ we now have. sorry for diverting from the much more exciting speculation on the new development......
  12. Unfortunately, there’s several issues with doing that which would cause problems elsewhere and require some serious engineering to operate succesfully so...Although it would be a great idea I can’t see it.
  13. Oh! Very true but the traffic chaos with 32k is going to be significantly worse with 40/42k . Then there’s going to be the fact it becomes more regular with a venue for other events. I was just hoping that there might be some hints as to the cunning plan the owners may have to get around this. I’d really like to use the park and ride now but the operating hours are so useless as to make it impossible on a regular basis. It’s going to be fascinating to see what they’ve got in mind....
  14. Sounds really interesting. I guess there’s going to have to be some serious Car Parking/Traffic management issues to address or the Planning permission isn’t going to be a given.
  15. Grey man...Grey football.....Fade to grey for Puel. This weekend I suspect.
  16. If you saw how many of those Robinson helicopters get damaged or written off in accidents every year you wouldn't even lean on it! On the other hand, an Augusta A109 like 'ours',now that's the business!
  17. Probably not ADSB equipped. It's not a regulatory requirement for all aircraft.
  18. I have an excuse. 40 years working in aviation some of which involved working at Luton.
  19. He shoots...He scores! Now what can I do to kill time whilst waiting for this bl**dy delivery man to turn up? I know! Get a life.
  20. No mate. Not serious as in Argghhhh! Serious as in, maybe, major interior refit or entertainment system, that sort of thing. However, could even be for the 'seperator' suggestion, (total respray).
  21. There is but for really serious stuff they go back to the factory.
