  1. Again, been some talk in recent years of the people who own Man City doing just this. Can't see it happening mind you given we already have a billionaire owner who has no need or want to sell it seems. Furthermore not sure I'd want some oil money fund taking us over.
  2. We've already had a similar relationship in this vein with Man City for years now.
  3. Benkovic was left out in the away games on plastic pitches pretty much every time we had a fixture on them after his initial injury, imagine that would be the case should he come back. I'm afraid your very much wrong on the latter. If Ajer leaves Celtic I'm afraid it won't be for any less than £20m, so not a kick in the backside off Tierney money. Which in all honesty isn't a lot of money nowadays for a young player with a lot of potential who is a first pick at international level already. If Soyuncu was similarly a prospect Leicester paid reportedly £19m for him so I don't quite see the logic in what your saying there at all.
  4. Absolutely has to be a wide player who is a significant upgrade on what you already have imo, someone who can chip in with 10 goals a season. Beyond that I don't think there is much tbh, really strong, vibrant looking squad beyond that, that you should be careful tinkering with too much.
  5. Given the start and other so called traditional top 6 clubs looking anything but convincing I think anything less than 6th would be a disappointment, unless there is a horrific spate of injuries or anything like that. I think privately, without shouting it from the rooftops, Rodgers will believe fourth, or at least challenging for it is achievable this season with a bit of luck.
  6. View from Glasgow... Please give us Benkovic back on loan
  7. You’ve been on 🔥 tonight lads! This could be anything in the second half!
  8. It's a tough one, everyone loved Benkovic and he was an absolute Rolls Royce up here. It's a shame he seems blighted by injury and can't make a decent fist of getting into the Leicester side. For what it's worth I've heard a few rumours up here that there's a chance we might be able to get him back on loan. To answer the question, if that were to happen our first choice pairing at centre back would be Jullien and Benkovic I think. For the moment anyway. That said, it's a funny one with us as we play so many games the whole notion of someone or other being first choice tends to go out the window due to injuries, necessary rotation, etc. Ajer is probably the best example of that as he's one that in most Celtic fans' minds has never been first choice until this season but in that time he's played probably more games than any of our other centre backs due to circumstance. Ajer is a great young player and has improved so much in the last couple of years, he's a proper defender although because he played in midfield up until the last few years he's also very good at bringing the ball out from the back. He still shows the odd moment of naievity getting caught on the wrong side or being a bit rash in the tackle but I think that'll disappear as he matures and learns the position more. Going forward on who'll turn out to be the better player it's hard to call, if Benkovic continues to suffer injury after injury then I reckon it will derail him unfortunately. Ajer in my opinion in short to medium term will continue to develop and will be able to go down and more than hold his own at a top EPL side. In terms of a long term bet, given his injury issues I'd have to plump for Ajer being the better choice and the one with more potential, given he's still very young in centre back terms and could be frightening if he continues to develop at the same rate.
  9. Yeah we regularly get out the Europa league group when we are in that competition and/or dropping into of the champions league into it. We've not got out of a Champions League group in a while though, under Neil Lennon in 2012 was the last time we qualified for the last 16.
  10. I watched Lyon a fair bit last season (because of Dembele) and tbh I didn’t really see it with Cornet, flattered to deceive a lot and looked like a just as clumsy clone of Traore (ex-Chelsea). Still young though and Lyon rotate their forward players in particular far too much so may still develop into a good player. Don’t think he’s anywhere near ready to cope with the physicality of the premier league yet though.
  11. Was pandemonium last night when Jullien scored in the final minutes! Looking good to get out of this group with a bit to spare now.
  12. Reminds me of all the talk when Larsson left us of replacing him, who could it be, etc, etc. Guys like Larsson and Vardy are irreplaceable for their respective clubs as they transcend more than simply what they do on the park, they are iconic, legendary and adored.
  13. You don't have to spend those sums though and get ripped off by fellow EPL clubs for average players like Dunk who'd cost a fortune. Scout and plan properly and look further afield, exactly in the same way you signed Soyuncu. Soyuncu and Evans may indeed be first choice but you need the ability to rotate or survive when either need a rest or are injured.
  14. He can't even score against Celtic and he needs 3-4 chances to score 1 goal! That's before you consider the fact he is an absolute head case.
  15. Yeah he does drift out there from time to time but he's really kicked on for us since Rodgers gave him a run of games centrally. Well, at the moment we've got tons of wide players but at the moment the two first picks are Forrest and Elyonoussi. We've got a couple of good you players coming through in the wide positions also in Mikey Johnston and Karamoko Dembele and a Ukranian guy we picked up in the summer called Maryan Shved, not seen too much of him yet but big things are expected of him. Add to that guys like Sinclair and Johnny Hayes also who are squad fillers mainly.
  16. Forrest I wouldn't be surprised at but Christie I can't see it. I don't see where he'd fit in your team given Maddison and Tielemens are already there. Christie gets shuffled out onto the wing on rare occasions but he's largely ineffective out there, his best position is as an attacking central midfielder and that's where he plays for us 99% of the time.
  17. Goals, simply. The modern day winger, if you can even call them that, in a lot of cases they are now more like inside forwards is relied on to be one of the key scorers of goals and Rodgers is big on this. Spoke about it all the time at Celtic and the first thing he done was brought in Sinclair who scored 30 goals for us in his first season. Throughout his time at Celtic he had Sinclair and Forrest consistently chipping in with circa 40 goals a season between them, before you even consider the assists.
  18. Think the horse has bolted with him if it ever was a goer, he's signed a new contract with the previous release clause removed.
  19. It's called the Tunnocks caramel wafer cup now actually
  20. Yeah really enjoyed it. Must say I really enjoy watching the MLS, you'll get the football snobs who'll say the quality isn't great and they don't watch it as a result and on the former that's true but most of the matches are exciting and filled with goals.
  21. Yeah they are a bit soft in there but if the played Torreira more often they had a bit more bite. Don't think they are a great side but had they bought a centre back who can defend they'd be a good shout to finish third without much bother. Had they coupled that with a midfielder with bite like you say then it would have been nailed on.
  22. That's a fair point, the last year he has picked up a lot on injuries as you say, probably due to the fact of playing over 200 games by the time he was 22.
  23. Atletico have been selling their top players for years according to this model, go all the way back to Aguero and work from there to see the evidence. In fact you can probably go back even further than him.
