  1. Again that’s an out of touch statement as if you looked at Sutton consistently he’s slamming Celtic more often than he’s praising us over the years, had it in for Rodgers while he was manager and the manager before him Deila and would constantly berate them. Hence why majority of the Celtic support don’t really care for him now. He’s also consistently lambasting lawell and the board, for years now.
  2. It’s not as black and white as that tbh, as poor as the general standard of our league is plenty of ageing EPL players have come up and really struggled. Joey Barton for example who got ran out of town he was so poor and went back down south and done well for Burnley in the EPL thereafter. As an aside I’ll be interested as to where King fits in at Rangers as they already well stocked with central midfielders.
  3. You can’t control people away from football grounds. Every city, town, club in the land will have a vile element who say and do unsavoury things.
  4. They never were this is a nonsense. Not saying there aren’t headbangers in our support but stuff such as this has never been sung at matches.
  5. I think what you say is a bit out of touch, the majority and the level headed amongst the fans never considered Rodgers the problem whatsoever, hence the disappointment and furore when he left. The way the board operate and their incompetence has transcended several managers and the Celtic support are under no illusions about that.
  6. Absurd isn’t it. So they can play a fancy light show in European games before the match. Irony is we’ve not qualified for the CL since they’ve been installed and I’m not sure we ever will qualify again given our current predicament and the forthcoming changes to the format of the competition. Read something the other day and they used Leicester winning the league as a case study and under the proposed changes in format Leicester would have been made to play in the Europa League and not the Champions League. A farce.
  7. Yeah what you say is exactly spot on. Similar to what I said a lot on here when I first joined amidst all that my dad is bigger than your dad debate around who is the biggest club. The ‘big club’ definition is a myth in football now as there is so much more to it now given financial strength of a league, marketing, foreign investment, etc, etc. It really is an antiquated term.
  8. Tbh the absolute nonsense isn’t exclusive to Leicester and Brendan, he spouts crap consistently about Celtic too and on most subject matters.
  9. Lennon ticked all the boxes in that he is a yes man and he’ll curry more favour than other managers of his stature as he’s a Celtic great. Lawell can control him like a puppet in his role as de facto director of football and that’s what he’s wanted all along. That’s why Lawell and Rodgers relationship broke down as Rodgers couldn’t be controlled and fought for investment to strengthen the squad, unsuccessfully. Not saying Rodgers wouldn’t have left anyway but had we backed him properly the decision might have become a lot harder for him to make. The whole thing is a shambles and change is required at the top. I’m also concerned that we’ll struggle to win the league this season under Lennon.
  10. Yeah that’s pretty much it in a nutshell. Christie has developed into a fantastic player. I think right now may be a little bit too soon for the EPL but if he continues developing and showing his early season form form for the rest of the season then he, along with Ajer will be the next two to make big money moves to the EPL.
  11. None of the fans are blaming Rodgers at all for the mess on the park, all the blame and ire is getting directed at the board and the cheap option of a manager they appointed after tonight.
  12. Have to agree with a lot on this thread as much as it hurts, Cluj are a terrible side and it was an embarrassment to go out tonight. Thats what happens when you trade in a Ferrari of a manager for a Dacia though. Lennon’s team selection and tactics were a disgrace tonight, primarily playing perhaps our best player and most certainly best midfielder at left back. Added to that you have a board who are happy to sell players on for big money but won’t reinvest it in terms of replacements. This is the third season in a row we’ll have ended up £15-20m in profit while our chairman takes £3m bonuses and spends £4m on disco lights. A disgrace and root and branch change needs to happen at boardroom level at Celtic.
  13. I loved Sutton as a player but don’t like him as a pundit at all but he most certainly doesn’t big up Celtic constantly. He constantly ripped into us in the Deila years and has been doing so again this summer so much so that a lot of fans don’t like him. He’s pure pantomime and doesn’t offer any real insight it’s more just being controversial for the sake of it without any real substance.
  14. Yup, it’s a shambles and tonight was a culmination of that shambles. No succession planning for players we know are going to leave. Selling players for big money but not reinvesting said money. Not to mention the appointment of the manager when you compare him to Rodgers its like swapping a Ferrari for a Dacia. Change needs to happen at the top at my club and soon.
  15. We have the exact same problem, we've needed a RB for two years and still don't have a natural one! Somehow I doubt when we eventually sign one he'll be one of the best in Europe though lol! Yeah your exactly right, we were and still are overloaded with wingers, central midfield players too.
  16. There’d still be opportunity for Barnes, as Albrighton on the right to be quite honest now isn’t going to cut the mustard as a winger in a top 6 side. Having real quality out on the right hand side and Albrighton as able back-up would probably take less burden off Barnes on the left and allow him to develop without too much expectation. Cant help but feel you’ve missed a trick with Sarr. Fact he went to Watford suggests he’d have been yours if you wanted him.
  17. Watched the highlights if you can call them that lol and read a few match reports. I think Rodgers has made a big boo boo in not bringing in a dynamic wide player with a bit of x-factor. I know he’s signed Perez and I think he’ll be a good signing but he’s more a steady eddy type. The match yesterday was crying out for someone such as that to break the lines and try and do something special. Question the use of £18m on Praet when you look well stocked with decent midfield players but imo poorer than the teams around you like West Ham, Everton and Wolves in terms of wide players.
  18. Exactly how he set up at Celtic, three central midfielders in a triangle, two sitting deeper and one at the head of the triangle pretty much playing as a 10 who was more often or not Rogic or McGregor.
  19. He played nearly 30 games for us last season and would have played close to 40 if we didn't leave him out the last 6 weeks of the season so as to not injure him again as they were nothing games. This injury prone thing about him is the biggest myth going on here, he had one real injury of note last season that got exacerbated when we rushed him back to play at Ibrox when he wasn't ready which then caused him to be out for 10 weeks.
  20. That looks a very astute signing. Seen they were linked with Ruben Dias also, he's going to be one of the best CB's in Europe.
  21. We don’t expect astronomical bids, we signed Eduoard for £9m last summer so that’s the sort of bids we’re expecting, not continually trying to turn £2-3m players into £20m ones. The whole point in our model is that from sales we can reinvest and sign a better quality of player. As said we have brought in £80m in eighteen months in fees, our last accounts had £50m sitting in the bank, add £25m for tierney to that and potentially another £30m if we make the champions league. We make a profit every single season it seems and with £50m sitting in the bank we certainly don’t need to sell players to balance the books. All the fans expect is for the majority of the money we reinvest to be reinvested in the team which isn’t happening. Again no one is expecting us nor would we want to compete with the wages on offer south of the border, we shop in an entirely different market and an entirely different level from EPL clubs.
  22. Think he’ll more than hold his own, has all the attributes suited to the EPL, strong, fast, equally as good going forward as defensively. Been injured for the best part of 9 months though so may take him a while to get up to speed.
  23. It’s not as black and white as that tbh, agree like any support there are your moon howler element but most of the sensible fan’s angst is that we’ve pulled in almost £80m in fees over the course of 18 months and we are trying to replace guys we’ve sold for £20m with £2-3m players and that we’re not reinvesting the money brought in.
