  1. Arsenal sign Tierney, £20m up front, a further £5m in instalments, £1m payments for every season they make the champions league for length of his contract (so feck all) and 15% sell on. 😥
  2. Your not being harsh at all mate, your summary is spot on 👍
  3. I’m not advocating you guys signing him, just now anyway, for the reasons posted on the Ajer thread. However, purely from a financial view point he’s far better value than Dunk or Tarkowski at close to the £50m fees being speculated.
  4. Most definitely, totally agree. Situation may may be different in a couple of years or whatever.
  5. Benkovic at the moment is the far better player imo and more ready to play EPL football right now. In the long term though it’s hard to tell who would be better. In other circumstances, i.e. had you not spent circa £25m on two young CB’s last summer then I think just now Ajer would be a worthwhile signing, particularly next to someone really experienced at EPL level like Evans. However, with Soyuncu and Benkovic already on the books I couldn’t see the immediate logic in it. For what it’s worth, if you were to replace Maguire I’d look outwith the EPL, in Evans and Morgan you already have tons of EPL experience there. Going for someone like Dunk or Tarkowski your going to get someone inferior to Maguire and by the time you give Hill they’re cut not have much change left. Better thinking outside the box and bringing in someone from the continent imo, like Tah or such like if he was attainable.
  6. I just want this window to close lol!
  7. I really wouldn’t advocate going for Dunk or Tarkowski now you have the £80m for Maguire burning a hole in your pocket, Brighton and Burnley could have your pants down in terms of a few knowing this.
  8. I can see this Maguire transfer kicking off a domino effect for a busy last 4 or 5 days of transfers in the EPL. I’d love to see you guys give Soyuncu or Benkovic a chance at CB, after all why sign them in the first place and go out and spend the bulk of the money on a top wide player who could transform your attack. I wouldn’t be surprised if that scenario came to pass as Rodgers didn’t seem to care much for signing defenders at Celtic or Liverpool lol!
  9. I wouldn’t be so sure, Rodgers loved him and along with McGregor he was very much a pet project for him. I’d be surprised to see it happen this season but in the next season or two I can definitely see Rodgers being interested in him.
  10. Sure. He’s a fine young player and still got tons of improvement in him whilst already being a very accomplished player. Whether he’s ready to step in and replace someone like Maguire and play most weeks in the EPL I’m not so sure. I think he’ll defo be good enough in time but as for right now I don’t think so. He’s only been a CB for the last couple of years, Rodgers converted him from a midfielder and he’s been a revelation although there’s still a bit of naivety there at times as he’s only 21 and still learning the position. He’s exactly the type of player Rodgers likes as similar to Maguire one of his biggest strengths is carrying the ball out from the back and initiating attacks. He also has the heart of a lion and despite being so young is a natural leader. I’d be loathed to lose him right now as he’s a very important player for us and at only 21 has got tons of improvement in him and he’d be best placed to keep developing with another couple of years playing every week for us. If he even half fulfils his potential though he’ll move on from us for big money in a couple of years though. AC Milan have already been linked with him in this window.
  11. Surely with Maguire looking to be gone you'll go and get a good quality wide player in, still a fair few attainable targets who have yet to move this summer.
  12. No problem mate. Hmmm good question, the answer will undoubtedly be yes if he keeps developing the way he is. However at the moment I'm not sure he's ready to play week in week out in the EPL just yet, he's only been playing as a CB the last few seasons after Rodgers converted him from his natural position as a midfielder. That said he is a top top player in Scotland and has done well in Europe for us, one of his biggest strengths is his ability to come out from the back with the ball and step into midfield and start attacks. I'd be loathed to lose him just now as he's got so much improvement in him and already a vital player for us given we lost our two first choice CB's from last season. AC Milan have been linked with him in the press up here today. I wouldn't be surprised to see Rodgers go for him at some point now Maguire is gone as he was a huge fan of him.
  13. Have to confess of not seeing much of this guy at all, but looking at his stats, this thread and general opinion online of him I think he'd be a pretty underwhelming signing tbh. Think there is far greater value out there for the sort of money being spoke of.
  14. I used to always read his blog and by all accounts he's been a roaring success since he arrived at Celtic so by that token yes. Not one I'd lose sleep over though, these type of background roles people tend to always come and go. More happy to see a regular guy from out with football making his breakthrough and doing well.
  15. If he was interested Jonathan Tah with a £25m release clause is a no brainer. Big if there though as imagine there'll be some of Europe's top sides looking at him just now. If going down the EPL route then Ake for me also, may cost a bit but already an accomplished performer and with his best years still ahead of him there's enough improvement in him to make a profit on him or for him to be the mainstay of your defence for years to come.
  16. Pretty nice back story to this lad, remember it about a year into Rodgers tenure as I followed the lad on twitter. He had a twitter account and blog where he would do tactical analysis of Celtic matches and Rodgers got wind of it and looked deeper into his stuff and invited him up to Lennoxtown for a chat and eventually offered him a job.
  17. Not really as simple as just packing him off somewhere though is it given Leicester are probably paying him a weekly wage not many other teams could get close to.
  18. Interesting reading this as it seems Rodgers could be willing to give Silva a fresh start. Interesting parrallels (although different types of player) with Stuart Armstrong when Rodgers first arrived at Celtic. Armstrong had a great first six months with us followed by a terrible 2.5 years thereafter until Rodgers arrived. He was one of the ones expected to and most fans would have been happy if he had been shown the door but instead he was revitalised under Rodgers and was one of our best players in the invincible season where he scored a lot of goals from midfield. Wonder if Silva will experience a similar revival.
  19. https://www.footballscotland.co.uk/spfl/scottish-premiership/stats-confirm-celtic-midfielder-callum-16624186 Pretty mad
  20. Yeah can go both ways that though, think they've spent close to £100m on ten players, sometimes that approach is a big gamble, look at Fulham last season. Maybe 3-4 in the £20-25m would have made more of a tangible difference.
  21. He looked a really good player in this year's AFCON, will be interested to see how he does in England, £8m the is the fee being reported, looks value on the face of it.
  22. Think there is enough football in those two to be able to keep the ball against the better sides? I could see Rodgers starting a destroyer like Wilf and putting someone next to him that's calm and assured in possession and won't give the ball away easily.
  23. I'd have Choudhury on loan in a minute tbh!
