  1. Tbh I really can’t take to Sutton as a pundit but your like his mirror image on here in the other direction. Pure pantomime.
  2. Very good piece on McGregor which is pretty much spot in his assessment. https://www.heraldscotland.com/sport/17708807.john-collins-callum-mcgregor-could-play-in-any-company-he-would-flourish-in-the-premier-league/
  3. He’d teach him how to fall on his arse and blow league titles for fun!
  4. Yeah, not been handled too greatly at all. The chat now is we're expected to come to an agreement in the next couple of days but who knows with sides like Bournemouth sniffing around also.
  5. Yeah far better, just an all round vastly superior footballer. Armstrong's athleticism got him where he is today largely, McGregor is twice the player Armstrong is quite easily.
  6. Yeah out of all our players I reckon he'd be the one most likely to be able to handle it.
  7. Who wants to be the one to break the threshold :-P
  8. Most definitely one of the most reputable and accurate news outlets up here yeah.
  9. Back to the topic of the thread I think Tielemans needs to be very careful in terms of his next move as it will likely be the one that defines his career. If he goes to a much bigger club where he is an unknown quantity and a contingency plan on a great contract the danger is he could spend the core developmental years of his career in and out the team which will do him no good and could see him ending up bouncing from mid-tier European sides the rest of career. If he goes to a club like Leicester on the other hand where he is adored, will be one of the focal points of the team, play week in week out and then if he keeps developing he then goes to one of these bigger sides as a very different proposition, as a more rounded player and someone who will be purchased on the basis of being one of the first names on the teamsheet.
  10. All depends on your definition of world class, for me it's being one of the top 2-3 players in your position in the world, don't think Mahrez is or was that, as fantastic a player as he is. Kante was and still is.
  11. Agree he's better than Soares but from what I've seen of Cancelo there's not much between them and I guess Cancelo is playing regularly at a higher level in the latter stages of the CL so can see the logic in him being first choice. Semedo only seems to have come onto a game and become a regular for Barcelona lately.
  12. I'm not so sure next season, top 6 is more realistic. As good as your first IX is the top 4 of City, Liverpool, Spurs and Chelsea have far more strength in depth.
  13. That's the really attractive thing about McGregor, especially at the price being quoted he is equally comfortable playing deep in midfield or in the more advanced position Maddison plays. I'm not saying he would displace either Tielemans or Maddison but because of his versatility and his ability to fill in for both I reckon he'd play a good volume of games over the course of a season. He could also play next to Ndidi on occassion, away to the bigger sides where Ndidi could concentrate on being a destroyer and giving it to McGregor who can retain the ball excellently and move the team up the park with his strong running. Rodgers deployed this tactic a lot for us against the better sides in Europe where we would play with two deep lying midfielders in a 4-2-3-1 type shape. In terms of a direct comparison to Ndidi, in terms of technical ability he is a far better footballer, obviously Ndidi's strengths are power and athleticism.
  14. There's speculation Lennon and McGregor don't get on from back when Lennon was first manager and he was a youth player and away out on loan. Not sure how true it is but what I've heard. I'd be disappointed if we only got £10m for him tbh, if you were to get him for that sorta fee then from your perspective that is an absolute no brainer of a move to make and great business.
  15. There's nothing worse than a long drawn out summer saga for a loan player you desperately want to sign, remember a similar scenario with us with Patrick Roberts. Hopefully Leicester can go and get this one done quickly.
  16. He's been really unfortunate in terms of the international side as Portugal have a plethora of very good RB's, Cancelo, Semedo, Soares, etc.
  17. Yeah much better to go out and wax £50m on Sporting Lisbon's answer to any footballer. Maybe doing that again would be a better option than going and getting someone like Ryan Fraser this summer. You should give Lee Congerton a phone, you and him would get on like a house on fire!
  18. They're not really Tierney has been heavily linked with Arsenal over the last couple of weeks if you've not noticed so if leaves this summer (which I'm willing to bet my mortgage he won't) he won't be going to Leicester and I don't mean that in any sort of bitter way. McGregor as much as there'd be disappointment at losing him I don't think many Celtic fans would be surprised if he followed Rodgers to Leicester this summer and we've already began sorting replacements in midfield with the boy Turnbull from Motherwell for £3m. McGregor doesn't owe us anything, he came through our youth system and has been a superb player for us and done and seen it all in terms of how far he can go with Celtic, he'd very much go with the fans best wishes if he were to leave.
  19. How much did he cost initially? Was it around £7-8m, if so I'd imagine you'd probably get that back and maybe a little bit more from a lower EPL/Championship club. I'd definitely be selling if so.
  20. I Leicester want to break into the top 6 they won't do it with this guy as a mainstay in the team, not good enough and would be surprised if he ever is.
  21. I get this is subjective but I watch tons of the EPL and it's only my opinion but after a season of watching Benkovic he's every bit as good as Dunk and will go on to be much better. This would be a mental signing imo, even if Maguire goes.
  22. Calum McGregor would be the perfect player for those requirements but you lot can bugger off on that front
  23. I'd argue that you need to add a top class wide player to that also.
  24. Not too always bang on about Celtic but both clubs find themselves in a similar position in a relative sense at least when a big transfer doesn't work out. If Leicester sign someone who flops on big wages, they are very hard to shift before the end of their contract as ultimately if there is no EPL interest in said player most other clubs across Europe won't be able to pay what the player currently earns. Therefore the policy becomes loaning them out season after season, hoping as much of the wage can be covered as possible. The situation is exacerbated the older a player is also. It's similar to us albeit on a smaller scale, we pay far more than anyone else in Scotland or teams across Europe who would be interested in the level of player we look at. Therefore when it doesn't work out no-one can or will pay said player what we currently pay them and we have no option but to send them out on loan after loan as we are doing with a lot of the deadwood we currently have (thanks Lee!).
