  1. The price of success this. Same happened at Celtic tbh, hanging onto players like Rogic, Forrest, McGregor, Tierney, Eduoard, etc meant that we had to significantly up their wages when tied up on new contracts which limited what we could spend in the transfer market. A necessary evil to avoid fire sales every summer and I guess the skill comes in when makign the call to sell the right player, at the right time for their maximum value.
  2. I could handle that lol! I've never really had a preference over an English team but I feel some sort of connection with Leicester now because I like this forum lol! Which is very weird as in February I had a deep resentment of Leicester and Rodgers but I guess that was the early stages of grief talking lol! Gutted he left and still am but in time I've realised my lasting opinion is that he brought us great success and memories that will last a lifetime so shouldn't complain, he was always going to move on, that's football.
  3. Getting on a wee bit now and wouldn't get any return on the investment financially but could very well be a sensational signing if it could be pulled off. Have watched quite a bit of Serie A this year and he's still Inter's main man. Punt Maguire for £70-80m Sign Perisic for £30m, Tielemans for £40m and Sarr for £30m and that's a fantastic window. Obviously not that simple but you get the point lol!
  4. Would be a sensational signing but can't see, has made it pretty clear if he leaves Palace he wants it to be for a Champions League club.
  5. If the sort of fees being reported for Maguire are true, £80m and the likes then if I was a Leicester fan I'd drive him to Manchester myself, given A: I don't think he's worth that sort of money (He's not close to the level of VVD for example who went for around this) as good a player as he is and B: given how much strength in depth you already have at the back. If you could get £80m for Maguire and go out and get say Tielemans and Sarr for effectively free and still have the summer transfer kitty sitting there that would be terrific business imo.
  6. If that's the level of clubs that are after him Leicester should just go out and get this deal done as he's obviously very attainable and would be a huge upgrade on any of the current wide players.
  7. Even if Jones was fit he is utterly useless, he's like a stolen vehicle the way he careers around trying to masquerade as a defender.
  8. Stones doesn't look any better to me now than he was when he was breaking through at Everton, still has howler after howler in him. Also get the impression Pep doesn't fully trust him given his lack of game time this season behind Kompany and Otamendi who are both ageing centre backs.
  9. The answer to a: is surely an emphatic and screaming nooooooo! B and C therefore obsolete. I wouldn't have any of the two of them at Celtic let alone at a higher level in the EPL. How they've stolen a living at Man Utd this long is beyond me. Probably emblematic of where Man Utd find themselves as a club tbh post-Fergie.
  10. Obviously on a different level but I guess the relative requirement is the same. We were in exactly the same position when Rodgers came in and he went out and got Sinclair who was markedly superior to anything we had in the wide areas at the time.
  11. I had the death star tune playing in my head when I read this opening post :-P Meet the new head of scouting, recruitment and transfer business. LEE CONGERTON I joke, I genuinely don't wish this guy to cause any ill will.
  12. 20m euros FFS! Not a chance, that smacks of a foreign selling club adding the EPL premium tax! I don't think he's been all that much of a success at Sociedad and we were allegedly offered the chance to speak to him if we made a £7m offer before he went there so that seems an absurd valuation. If true of course.
  13. Oi f&%k off you Ntcham looks on the way out, superb player on his day but his day isn't often enough, has a pretty poor attitude and think he'd be a bit of a gamble for you guys. Was also speculated that him and the other french lads in Dembele and Eduoard hated Rodgers. Marseille and Porto rumoured to be interested in him.
  14. I really don't think he's any better than what you already have, has never kicked on and threatened to realise his early potential.
  15. What's Celtic got to do with it?
  16. Not if he was watching last night he won't.
  17. I really don't understand this insistence on playing from the back constantly, I'm not saying hoof it long all the time but England quite clearly don't have the players to build play from the back, due to a mix of not being good enough technically and too careless. I don't get why they don't play to their strengths. The back line was less exposed at the world cup as they went with 3 centre backs. However, going with two centre back's woefully exposed their shortcomings. They were lucky they were up against Babel and Depay last night as a side with world class forwards could have really embaressed them.
  18. I'd be very surprised if any of those players would be attainable for Leicester, some absolutely wouldn't be like Piatek, Jovic and Werner for a whole host of reasons. If any of the others move on this summer I'd expect them to have Champions League clubs across Europe after them, Haller for example is being linked with Spurs now. Furthermore, all of those guys would cost £40m+, are you really going to spend that on a striker to play second fiddle to Vardy.
  19. I think Rodgers will be better qualified to make the decision than us. I can only speak for my club but as I said, I'd be wary of writing anyone off as he turned a few players who the fans were crying out to get rid of into world beaters (by our standards anyway) overnight. I'm sure it's been well reported (in Gerrard's book I think) that he knew Balotelli was a huge gamble before he signed him and he said as much to Gerrard as they signed him. Rodgers strikes me as the sort that quickly learns his lesson so I don't know if that's the best example as a reference point.
  20. Not saying he'll definitely do it but there was more than one player that we said the exact same about prior to Rodgers arriving and he turned them into completely different players overnight. Stewart Armstrong, James Forrest and Calum McGregor all being such examples, all Celtic fans wanted them out the door prior to Rodgers arriving. If he sees the same in Iheanacho and believes he can turn him around then I'd trust him in this regard, you might save yourself £30m that can go towards getting Tielemans or the quality wide player you badly need.
