  1. Lennon was spotted in the crowd watching him in the play-off semi-final, apparently we are after him. Don't know much about him at all. Maybe both clubs are working from Congerton's list
  2. He's a far better player than Gray, irrespective of whether he should be signed or not, he actually scores goals and provides assists.
  3. I'd be concerned too as I've well documented on here. Hopefully like I said before he can be marginalised and not do too much damage other than keep Rodgers company!
  4. Ooft never realised that, thought he would be in the £30m range. You get the impression these clubs bump their asking price up if they know EPL teams are interested. Can't blame them either given how cash rich EPL sides are.
  5. As much as it frustrates me being stuck in Scotland and being hamstrung by the environment we play in, at the same time there is something unsettling now that in a lot of the big leagues a large part of the success factor for clubs now is who has the wealthiest owner. Makes it all the more harder for a team like Leicester winning the league again.
  6. If reports are true and you could get Sarr for virtually the same amount of money it would be Sarr every day of the week for me as opposed to Traore. Has always struck me as one of those players who you and indeed he doesn't know what he's going to do next.
  7. Still have my reservations about how he'd do at the top end of the EPL technically but must say gutted we missed out on him with the benefit of hindsight, £3m and he was ours as well. Celtic doing what they always do with young Scottish Celtic supporters though and expecting it is their divine right to sign them and this one bit us on the arse.
  8. This is absolutely spot on. Celtic players tend to get 10 days off every year because of it when you factor in internationals and it's beginning to take it's toll now. I'm sure there was a story saying the last three seasons a Celtic player has played the most minutes in world football, Tierney, McGregor and this season Forrest. Just about 70 games every season.
  9. Seems a lot of the big clubs are able to do that these days, selling on average players who have never really kicked a ball for them for £20-30m. Probably the fact that these clubs snare every decent youth player under the sun nowadays also. It would be good to go back to a rule whereby youth players can't sign for clubs outwith a certain radius or at the very least have to stay with the one club for a fixed duration of their first professional contract or something like that. Within reason of course, until say the age of 18, you wouldn't want clubs giving youth players ridiculously long unbreakable contracts to protect their own interests either.
  10. I'm well aware he's a Leicester player. Thanks for pointing out the obvious and as per usual sneering down your nose at the Scottish league, whilst knowing very little about it and contributing absolute zero of value to the thread topic.
  11. Yeah not saying he's going to be as good as VVD but he's not far away imo having seen lots of both. We don't only play in the SPFL, strolling through games against the dross of our league doesn't cut any ice even with Celtic fans, players we have are largely judged on how they do in Europe and Benkovic like a lot of other's before him has showed up well in that arena. Every player needs to start somewhere and plenty of clubs have been burned and missed out on Van Dijk, Dembele, etc by turning their nose up at the SPFL. Just because it's miles behind the EPL in terms of overall quality doesn't mean there aren't a few very good players in it. Some of our recent exports justify exactly that thinking.
  12. I actually remember being mildly disappointed you guys signed him as thought he looked great at that tournament and we were after him too according to some reports! Very much a bullet dodged with the benefit of hindsight and no we don't want to take him off your hands now lol!
  13. Have doubts whether Duffy is good enough on the ball to be a realistic target for Rodgers.
  14. Yeah there's been a ton of players over the years bought on a whim off a good summer tournament, Diouf, Poborsky and countless others. Mina may well end up being another but putting that to the side he looks a player well suited to the EPL.
  15. Agree Sanchez looked better but Mina looked pretty impressive also, looked to have everything required to be a success in the EPL, tall, commanding, quick across the ground, threat in both boxes. Still young and plenty to work with there I guess. Maybe taking time to adjust to European football still, being a Barcelona player was a bit of a misnomer as they only signed him in the January from Palmeiras and he hardly played then was shipped off to Everton in the summer that followed.
  16. I'm surprised he's fared so badly at Everton tbh, looked great at the world cup and looked to have all the attributes required to thrive in the EPL.
  17. I'd love Roberts back at Celtic but he's not of the standard required for Leicester and the EPL imo. He wasn't always a first pick at Celtic. He doesn't do enough going back the way and would be a luxury pretty much all teams outside the top 6 couldn't afford in terms of the defensive side of things. Not saying he would ever get a game for the top 6 just that sometimes because of how dominant these teams are they can afford to carry a luxury player. He's also pretty injury prone, struggled with hamstring injuries in his time with us and I read earlier on this thread he suffered with this again at Girona.
  18. McGregor can and has filled in at LB on several occasions for us but I couldn't see him doing similar at RB. He's strong on his weaker foot (right) but not strong enough to play RB, especially at EPL level.
  19. Just seeing this, was a heavy weekend lol! Well it's a weird one, Benkovic is undoubtedly our strongest CB however since he was out injured Ajer and Simunovic have been peerless and haven't deserved to be dropped so I guess the manager has just been loyal to those who have had the jerseys and taken their chance.
  20. Dunno what Chris Sutton has to do with Leicester City's interest in Calhanoglu but there you go!
  21. You seem to have an unhealthy obsession with the SPL. And it's the SPFL btw.
  22. Not seen tons of this guy but when I have seen him he looks like he'd really struggle in the EPL looks nowhere near athletic or quick enough.
  23. Van Dijk was slightly ahead of him based on his time in Scotland in a Celtic jersey but not by miles. Not saying Benkovic will go on to be as good as him but based on what I've saw and comparing to Van Dijk I've absolutely no doubts he could slot in at Leicester and play every week and look accomplished.
  24. Sure De Ligt is only not a target as he's already knocked them back publicly.
