  2. Don't see that changing under Rodgers tbh. He was quite vocal during his time with Celtic about how he liked numbers in midfield as that's where you can control the game. Even at Liverpool when he had Suarez and Sturridge he would elect to play one of them a bit wider as opposed to two central strikers.
  3. Yeah read Arsenal have a strong interest in him.
  4. This is very true and does my head in. These clubs believe they are some sort of cartel now and think they have a god given right to Champions League football just because of their so called brand and balance sheet as opposed to getting there on merit by what they do on the park, which is how it should be. Smacks of a spoiled toddler approach whereby they threaten to take their ball and go home and form their own league and what's worse UEFA pander to it year on year. They should call their bluff and let these clubs go and do their own thing and they'd soon come crawling back when they release they have sold their souls to play what would be glorified friendlies, against the same sides year on year in places like China, the middle east and the US. Rant over lol!
  5. Given the market in England that would be an absolute steal for Ryan Fraser.
  6. Haha know the feeling, talking from personal experience as I had the very same thoughts/emotion with Patrick Roberts previously who was on loan at us!
  7. Yeah all fair points and you guys are undoubtedly in pole position but wouldn't count your chickens either, seen these loan deals go the other way more than once, Alderwereild being a good example of exactly that.
  8. Hard to say when you don't know the level of interest in Tielemens as yet, a bidding war could quite easily see his price rise as Spurs and Man Utd are apparently interested.
  9. Will be interesting if Rodgers is willing to sacrifice Chilwell or Maguire to help finance a bit of a re-build. He tried to do similar with us last summer when Everton bid £30m for Tierney but Tierney wouldn't leave and Everton went and got Digne instead.
  10. Apologies that must have been another post.
  11. Fair enough points. Where I'd still disagree is that Tielemans will cost more than that given the level of interest in him and his performances for Leicester and Belgium in the last 6 months, even accounting for giving them Silva.
  12. You vouched for Joe Bryan at £10m as your back-up LB option. In any case and all that aside given what you are saying we are talking what a £10-15m variance here? Still an awful lot of money to spend if you don't get rid of one of your big sellable assets.
  13. Don't think there is any chance of Rodgers going after a guy like Giroud, doesn't fit how he likes his teams to play whatsoever, would be incapable of pressing effectively from the front and nowhere near mobile enough. Like has been said on previous threads also he doesn't do a plan B, target man type thing either.
  14. Just guestimates. - Adams £15m - Bowen £15m - Given Villa knocked back £25m from Spurs I reckon your looking at, at least £30m for Grealish - You won't be getting James for £10m given he was valued at this when Leeds agreed a fee for him and he's since went up another level and became a regular international, your talking £15m absolute minimum for him. - Tielemans will be at least £30m even if you give them Silva given his age and interest in him, no way Monaco will value an ageing guy who flopped in EPL with no sell on at £20m. Pretty sure the reported fee for Tielemans is £40m for example. - Back-up left back in the £10-15m range. Which totals £130m. You'll do well to offload any dross that can't get a game in that no-one outwith the EPL will be willing to pay them what you can pay them and you'll have to punt them on loan, a la Musa, Slimani, etc, etc. We suffer this on a smaller scale in that our squad players who are no good need to be shifted on loan as the level of clubs that are interested in them can't afford to pay them what we can.
  15. That would cost a hell of a lot of money and you have the gamble there of a few players who are unproven at EPL level. Conservatively if you include Tielemans there your looking at a £130m spend there.
  16. Tbh I can understand this to an extent, the only Scottish players I'd say that are worth the gamble and would do well in the EPL and improve a top half club are Tierney, McGregor and Forrest. Non-Celtic you can add in Fraser who is already proven at EPL level and has great numbers this season.
  17. Yeah I get the intangible aspect of it, I'm talking purely from a statistical point of view, there's no way you can factor in the former.
  18. Only thing I'd say about that is Grealish is a lot like Maddison and could that money be better spent elsewhere, e.g. out wide where there is vast need for strengthening if you look at the stats in terms of goals and assists for the wide players this season which are terrible. From what I've saw of Leicester this season, before and after the arrival of Rodgers I think your squad looks pretty strong in defence and midfield. Sign two excellent wide players who can chip in between them 20 goals and assists in a season and that could make a real difference in terms of league position. Add in a decent understudy for Vardy also.
  19. Read a thing recently (can't find the link) where they have been amending the results of games and keeping a VAR league table as they have been using VAR 'offline' on all games this season before it coming in proper next season. Would be interesting to see if there is any significant variation in the league table. Doubt we'll ever see it either due to the furore if it affected relegation, european qualification, etc, etc.
  20. Do you think being spoiled to an extent with Kante leads to constant unfair comparisons with him with the same types of players? Reason I ask is because I see this quite a lot with Celtic fans on our forum, comparing every CB we have or go for with Van Dijk when in reality it was an absolute fluke he was at us in the first place and we'd be lucky to get someone even half as good as him again in the next 20 years.
  21. Hahahahaha! Thanks mate! Finding myself in an odd situation here, I originally only came on for a nosey when Rodgers left but it's a really good forum with lots of good chat so will hang around if no one objects lol!
  22. I think with Rodgers ability to develop players you'll see this happen pretty quickly.
  23. Kimpembe would cost about double that and PSG would never let him go and using what Solanke went for as a yard stick then there's is more chance of hell freezing over than getting Brewster for £5m.
