  1. That's like me saying I want to go to the pictures with Jennifer Lawrence tonight. The guy is dung btw.
  2. I don't get the comparisons with Kante at all, they are completely different types of midfielder.
  3. I hope we try and bring him back to Celtic next summer.
  4. Have you not watched the news in the last two years? South Africa have been ravaged with it, are the origin of one of the most transmissible variants and very recently have had major issues administering the vaccine due to anti-vaccine mobs rioting and destroying vaccination centres.
  5. All this makes me think that AFCON if it goes ahead in January could end up an absolute shitshow in terms of how long players could be unavailable for.
  6. Less severe yes, with European competition there is no cross-continent travel and most countries in the EU are way ahead with their vaccination programs than for example African nations. That time has also passed, in the present time Europe is far safer and less restrictive from a quarantine point of view than any other region on the planet virtually.
  7. International football should be knocked on the head for a while, it's just causing chaos.
  8. That's one way of looking at it, the other is they could very likely get Mbappe Haaland and Pogba and only have to pay out £66m in transfer fees for the three of them. Madrid have always seemed to "creatively" get round financial barriers. Added to that I imagine they'll be spending the next 12 months trying to get rid of high earners like Hazard and deadwood like Isco, Asensio, Diaz, etc, etc.
  9. There was a picture on twitter the other evening with the union bears in the dressing room celebrating when Rangers won the league last season and you could see the very same picture still hanging there above the pine panelling
  10. Would be astounded if Haaland doesn't join Mbappe at Madrid next season, alongside the French Carlton Palmer also as he'll be on a free.
  11. I wouldn't be surprised in all honesty, I doubt the club would willingly let his contract run down as much as it already has.
  12. That'd be fair for both club and player imo.
  13. Proper European group this one, will be interesting to see how it unfolds, a far more exciting and glamorous group on paper than last year.
  14. Strikes me as the epitomé of nothing to see here this. Remember reading a blog a few years back of how basically all of Europe's top clubs operate in this way as a means of prioritising cash flow. Probably the optimal economic conditions right now for borrowing also given interest rates are at historic lows.
  15. I don't get how you can say that, Rodgers has developed or increased the longevity of so many key players at the club. There's more to a manager than just buying the players he wants, particularly a hands-on coach type manager like Rodgers. Classic example of the above would be his first season at Celtic. He signed three players in that first season, the eight remaining were a laughing stock the season before, going out the cup to a second tier Rangers side. Rodgers came in and developed the same core of underperforming players and a year later they had won an Invincible treble, acquitted themselves well in the champions league, avoiding defeat to Man City over two legs and some who the fans wanted chase 12 months previous went on to the EPL for big money.
  16. Agree with this. I may be wrong but I get the sense Rodgers doesn't really fancy him at all. Even when he was on fire he seemed to go out his way to to highlight his shortcomings in interviews last season.
  17. Wenger is an old tit. My dislike for him now seems justified now that he has resigned himself to being Infantino's mouthpiece.
  18. Yes as in Porto's B team he'll be playing competitive football in a professional league against grown men. He'll learn far more in that environment than playing in glorified friendlies against what are essentially youth players. He's not went out on loan to the championship so that's an invalid comparison. Breaking into the Porto team is going to be far easier than breaking into the Leicester side, I'd have thought that much is obvious. Porto play in a weaker league which they dominate therefore there is going to be more scope to carry youngsters and make mistakes. There is no such luxury any longer for Leicester now they are in the upper echelons of the best league in the world, there is no scope to carry youngsters all that much unless they are exceptional and as good a player as Tavares is reported to be I don't think he's exceptional.
  19. Young players develop by playing games, not by training, irrespective of the standard of players you are training with. The latter can help if your playing regularly of course but without regular games it means little.
  20. You've just made that up haven't you.
  21. Disappointed Levein has scored so low on the vote. An absolute ballbag of a guy.
  22. Vlasic is an interesting one, looked great at the Euros. Apparently Man Utd wanted £30m for Lingard but West Ham wouldn't go to that but obviously went close to that for Vlasic. Guess Vlasic is younger and they may get some of that back in the future whereas this would have been Lingard's last big move you'd have imagined.
  23. If your a 100m player and your agent negotiates a deal for 160k per week in this day and age then you should get rid of him. He'll be on 250k a week minimum.
  24. Too early to say imo, Christmas would be the best time to make a balanced assessment.
  25. That still happens btw, Jimmy Bell even takes it to away games. That's coming from a current first team player.
