  1. Won't happen with Laporte wanting away. With Man City signing Grealish and Kane they won't have any money to sign a another CB also as if Laporte and Ake both left they'd only be left with Stones and Dias.
  2. Sorry mate been on holiday and just seen this. I’ve never been a massive fan of Hart but he’d be a huge upgrade on our current goalkeepers so would take him. Barkas and Bain are two truly awful goalkeepers, the two worst I’ve seen in my lifetime and that’s saying something as we’ve had some shockers.
  3. Don't see how DVDB and Fernandes play in the same side tbh, they both like to occupy the exact same spaces.
  4. I think your missing my point. Liverpool don't want him, they are not tempted at all, at any price, that much is clear.
  5. I don't think Liverpool have anything to do with his current wage demands, they made their intentions clear re keeping him ages ago.
  6. That's still 80k per week over 5 years. Signing on fees are typically paid as a supplement to a player's weekly wage.
  7. He most certainly is to be sniffed at if reports are true and he's wanting 80k a week in wages. He flops and he becomes Silva/Slimani mkII as no one is taking him off your hands and giving him that sort of money.
  8. It was Ronny Deila who signed him but Brendan took his game to a new level right enough.
  9. Good deal for us, surprised we got as much as that for him with a year to go on his deal, £16m including add-ons is what I'm led to believe. Not bad given we paid 500k for him. Good deal for Brentford also, that kind of money is pocket change in the EPL nowadays, he was the one shining light in which was an absolute disaster of a season for us last season, the one player who didn't down tools and looked like he cared. A vast improvement on his season prior to that. He's been a good servant for us and won everything there is to win in Scotland many times over so he's entitled to move on to a stronger league now, hope he does well.
  10. Selling to another premier league club there is something wrong if you don't get around a £12m fee for him. Far worse players have changed hands for a lot more than that.
  11. I was thinking just this last night when I seen this. I know I don't really rate him so obviously I'm a bit biased but the fact he's been available for relative pennies all of the summer now and there's not anyone made a move for him not jump out at folk as a red flag? Bundesliga clubs who know all about him would have been all over him at that price you would have thought.
  12. He stunk the place out last season so a lot of the interest and hype arund him has cooled. He's got a lot to prove this season. Nice may have finished 9th last season but the season before they qualified for the CL and they are obviously backed by Racliffe's billions, could be a club that's going places. Rumour is Galtier is going to be the manager next season.
  13. Don't think he's a world beater but I think someone like him could be the right player at the right time.
  14. Don't ask me why but I've always thought he may end up there also.
  15. Could do a lot worse, if he could be got for around the £12m mark I think he'd be a better option than Kabak in the short to medium term.
  16. It's a great forum in all honesty, never imagined in a million years I'd become a regular poster on here 3 years ago when I dropped in for a nosey to see what the reaction was to Rodgers being appointed
  17. Yes it is a huge leap, if you firmly believe people think that signing Tarkowski is going to be the difference between success and failure overall then sorry but I can't help you there.
  18. That's the thing though the whole notion of 4th choice is a misnomer for me, now the club is regularly competing in Europe, Evans will be another year older and Fofana is still young enough that he'll need a rest from time to time to ward off burn out. That means all four centre back's are likely to play 20+ games in the season, even more so if Rodgers decides to play three at the back on occassion. Like I said in a previous post, Wes wasn't fourth choice centre back last season, Amartey was, I think even Castagne played more minutes at centre back than Wes (don't quote me on that but you get my point). I might be missing something but based on what I've saw of him I don't see this big potential in him and I reckon yes there are better and more valuable options out there than him this summer. It's all down to opinions of course, let's see what happens if he signs, if he does I obviously hope he does well.
  19. I don't think Liverpool's situation is as grave as that tbh, maybe last season but they now have arguably the best centre back in the world available again and an England international to partner him.
  20. What about the fact Klopp could have signed him for what £15m but instead decided to spend more than double that, on another player, in the same position from the same league. If he signs I obviously hope he works out and is a great success, but based on the above, what I've saw of him and the fact the thing most people seem appealed about with him is his price I've got serious reservations around whether he's good enough.
  21. Your overreacting no one is saying signing Tarkowski or not is going to decide success or failure, that's just unnecessary hyperbole. People are merely airing their opinion that they'd prefer an experienced centre back as opposed to a work in progress. Those on that side of the debate of course. Also whether it's Tarkowski, Kabak or whoever else they aren't going to be the Morgan replacement are they, that's just plain wrong. They'll be the replacement such that we no longer have to resort to Amartey as an emergency and quite frankly inadequate option at centre back. Morgan isn't needing replaced as he barely played at all last season, you don't have to replace someone that hasn't contributed to any meaningful extent. You can have experience and be crap, that's a thing. I thought it was fairly obvious that those who suggested they'd favour a more experienced option to Kabak also implied that said option would also be a good player. Context is key here, no one is saying always go for the experienced option they are merely saying given the current options at centre back, who in the main lack experience beyond Evans and who have looked a little suspect without Evans' presence, that going for an older head may be a better option at this point in time, if possible of course.
  22. I think the experience people refer to with Tarkowski is premier league experience and a comfort of knowing what your going to get. I don't really rate Kabak but the thing with him is many believe in time he'd have a higher ceiling than someone like Tarkowski. The risk factor with Kabak then becomes will he be reliable in the short term to come in and do a job akin to those that already there in Soyuncu, Fofana and Evans.
  23. Yeah agreed, I'd be amazed if he ended up at Liverpool.
  24. He's out of contract, Palace would have no say in the matter.
  25. That's what you get when you pay £60 odd million, it's like comparing apples and oranges using that example.
