  1. Rodrigo De Paul signed for Atletico Madrid for €35m remember a few on here mentioning him previously.
  2. Pirlo always had players round him who could run though, that's the key. A midfield with both Tielemans and Thiago in it and Liverpool would have to completely rip up how they currently play, they'd basically have to bin gengenpressing.
  3. Not convinced there is any genuine interest from Liverpool at all and even if there is I doubt they can or would pay what it would take to get him. They already have a very similar player in him in Thiago. The guy they are looking to replace is Wijnaldum who is a completely different type of midfielder. I'd be more inclined to put my money on the Renato Sanches links or at least a plaer of that ilk than Youri if Liverpool end up signing a midfielder.
  4. I'm not saying that was the prime reason for faltering but more experience in that position would help, someone like Tarkowski or of that ilk would help and would solve the problem of resorting to folk like Amartey at CB which happened last season. The more games you play the more injuries will become an issue and next season will be a demanding one again in that sense. People are saying go for someone like Kabak who may take a year to settle a la Soyuncu and if so then you run the risk of being back to square one again and still short of the quality and depth you need at CB in the immediate term.
  5. That's where I disagree of course, I think you do need more experience at the back.
  6. Yup, succession planning essentially. Someone like Tarkowski could be a handy, composed, experienced head in the squad a year or two down the line, particularly if Evans' eventual decline were to coincide with one of Soyuncu or Fofana moving on.
  7. If Tarkowski is indeed too expensive at £20m then fair enough. With players still to go out though and a relaxing of FFP this smmer I'm not so sure he will be too expensive, we'll just need to wait and see in that sense. Finances aside though Kabak at whatever price just isn't a good enough player for me and I reckon there is far better value out there in Europe than him, even if it's a loan with an option to buy or something like that.
  8. The other way of looking at it is you need a player who can make a meaningful contribution now. At the stage the club is at now, especially at the back where there is an abundance of youth already in little Wes and Soyuncu I'd rather a player who'll strengthen things there now and that in turn leads to maybe a European final than signing someone who your not going to be able to trust fully until a year or two down the line. The latter is no use now and will lead to a similar situation as last season where the squad was stretched beyond it's limits come the latter stages in Europe, the aim of the window this season has to be to avoid that happening again or the progression will falter. It's all subjective right but I've seen a fair bit of Kabak at both Schalke and Liverpool and based on what I've saw he's not good enough and wouldn't be someone I'd be comfortable with at the heart of defence with any sort of regularity.
  9. 20m is reasonable though, it'd be a far better move than spending 15m on Kabak. Luckily the club don't think this way but when the most attractive thing about a signing is the fee itself it's usually a sign to stay away. The club has been burned in the past with being unable to shift players that no one else can pay them similar wages.
  10. 1. He really won't be, in a months time if he's still at Burnley they'll have to sell despite what they are saying now and for a reduced fee given it's their last window to get any meaningful money for him. 1a.They've already signed his replacement in Nathan Collins. 2. What they are doing just now is a smokescreen in order to maximise the value they can get for a player they are running the risk of losing for free. 3. The whole notion of fourth choice is a misnomer nowadays at a top club playing in Europe such as Leicester. With Evans injury record, Fofana's tender years (he should have been rested far more than he was last season in an ideal wold) and Soyuncu who isn't immune to injury himself there'll be plenty of opportunities for him to play. He'd play 25 plus games easily when you factor in Europe. 3a. He'd most definitely come, none of the "big 6" would go for him and Leicester are the best of the rest at the minute, he'd be daft not to come. As an aside Kabak is mince, for 15m euros there is far better value to be had across Europe, Ajer is better value at around the same price and there are more examples.
  11. Agree right wing is the priority but in an ideal world something new is also needed in that 10 type position as Maddison picks up a lot of injuries and Perez is garbage.
  12. I like him but this is quite pricey. Sort of player I could imagine Rodgers really working wonders with though and taking his game to the next level.
  13. Come on it;s England we are talking about, similar players regularly change hands for three times that. Hamza would fetch 8 figures easily and Perez the same. The issue in shifting Perez however will be that no one will be in a rush to pay him his current wage.
  14. Spurs actually do, they have no back-up for Kane whatsoever now Vinicius' loan has ended, he'd be a smart signing for Spurs in that sense.
  15. Context is different this summer though. A large part of deciding against it last summer was most likely going large on Fofana.
  16. Pretty sure he's on a big wage there after he signed a new contract shortly after Mourinho arrived.
  17. Not really applicable in this case is it given the club already know loads about him given he's been playing in the same league for years, so much so there was a link last summer also.
  18. Hard to say how it’ll turn out but on the face of it doubt there is a smarter piece of business done across Europe so far this summer. A definite coup and one of the hottest properties in Europe at the moment, hopefully he tears up the EPL next season.
  19. Agree with this, what he's done thus far on a net spend of £9m is nothing short of remarkable.
  20. Word is up here we'll be at full capacity in grounds by August 10th.
  21. Oh f$ck right off! Another one we had an open goal in signing two seasons ago and we opted for that covid breaching disaster bolingoli instead.
  22. Alex Ferguson talks about this in his second book, think it was one of the reasons given for not going for Jordan Henderson and Isco.
  23. From what I've seen of him I just don't think he's anywhere near good enough so in that sense the price is academic.
  24. Not enthused about this one at all, was terrible at Liverpool any time I watched him and the fact Schalke were happy to let him go while fighting for survival says a lot.
