  1. It's not about the transfer fee, in Benkovic's case anyway. Who's going to pay him what Leicester currently are? There won't be a queue of clubs anyway.
  2. As well as he done the reality is he's probably fifth choice centre back at best post the arrival of Konate. There are also some glaring weaknesses in his game and he's not a teenager or anything like that. Him moving on will probably suit both club and player this summer.
  3. Yeah I'd say from the little I've seen of him Daka is a better player than Edouard.
  4. £23m for Daka looks like great business.
  5. Tarchowski replacement you'd think.
  6. Yeah he's a right footed right winger though who likes to go on the outside. Wouldn't be great in terms of balance with him on one wing looking to go outside and Barnes on the other looking to do the opposite.
  7. Signing both with Vardy and Iheanacho also on the books means one of the two signed would hardly ever play which would mean they would have little re-sale value at all.
  8. Reports today saying Roma are desperate to get shot of him this summer and will accept 10m euros for him. Absolute masterstroke not gettng roped into an obligation to buy last summer in light of that.
  9. From a Leicester point of view if Celtic are wanting say £18m for Edouard, even £15m with some add-ons and you can get Daka for £6 or £7m more, which lets be honest is peanuts in EPL terms then it's got to be Daka every day of the week. I wonder if Daka being interested in going to Leicester has maybe made Leicester change tact in pushing for Edouard, it would make sense. I don't mean that disparigingly but everyone expected him to go to a Liverpool or Chelsea type side until the past week or so.
  10. Yeah your right, that is the big risk in that scenario. You'd hope though next season he's far more motivated, even if it is just to get the best club/deal for himself when he leaves on a free at the end of the season.
  11. Yeah head down with no real thought, technically crap also.
  12. I'm not so sure I believe this given how publicly cosy we've been with Rodgers since he left. I've never seen many, if any previous Celtic managers, particularly one's who left in the manner he did be spoke about so glowingly in statements from the club. In the last year he's gave an interview to the website and been on Celtic tv only a few weeks ago, they still even sell Rodgers memorabilla in the club shop lol! This feels like a smokescreen to me to cover the fact we've made such a shambles of appointing a new manager and basically left him next to no chance of recruiting or planning effectively for the new season. From little bits I've heard and from what I see I think we are gambling on keeping Edouard another year in the hope he shoots us to the champions league and therefore a £30m+ bounty, instead of making £6m or £7m now maximum after we give PSG their cut. Next seasons league winners go straight into the champions league groups in Scotland. I can actually see the logic in it as by the time we give PSG their cut we're not going to be left with much, certainly not enough to replace him with a player of similar quality. Next season it's in his and our interests to get back to the Edouard of 12 months ago and rip things up again. We get a daft offer from someone like West Ham for £20m up front or something like that and the above could change of course.
  13. He'd make your eyes bleed watching him on the wing. He struggles in the SPFL inthat position so I dread to think how he'd look in the EPL playing wide. He had a great season for us Lennon's first season but he was probably our worst player last season, apart from Duffy.
  14. AFAIK he's out of contract in January, weird I know. Therefore, eams can start speaking to him with regards a pre-contract in a couple of weeks.
  15. He's shit, nowhere near good enough for a top 6 EPL club.
  16. The Celtic/Leicester connection there again
  17. Talking hopefully/hypothetically of course! young man
  18. Football is emotional and there is nothing wrong with fans getting carried away, he looks like one of the brightest prospects in Europe so people should feel entitled to be excited. Leicester aren't even my first team obviously and it's a signing that really excites me. The 'x' would score 40/50 goals in 'x' league is such a lazy argument. The scottish league is the pits right and there are numerous players, strikers also have done well in England and came up here and flopped. It's not always black and white. You think Dortmund fans weren't excited when they signed Haaland from the Austrian league? Barcelona fans weren't excited when they signed Neymar? I'm not saying Daka will be as good as either of them but it's the same principles.
  19. Reminds me of Larsson in his time at us, after he knocked back Man Utd he'd regularly score 40/50 goals a season but there wasn't much interest in him as people probably thought if he's not willing to leave their for Man Utd then we are wasting our time. Obviously he went to Barcelona eventually but he said from the moment he signed that last contract it would be his last one and he wanted to go somewhere warm before he finished up.
  20. FFS I really wish he'd just go. Not necessarily for any great financial gain as we owe PSG a fair chunk of the money anyway. Not just him but a host of players from last season, it's time for them to go and they'll be forever tarnished with the heartless attempt a defending our title last season.
  21. This is a great forum but one thing that does annoy me is people sneering down their nose at inferior leagues. It's football snobbery really and it's often the same folk who blow a gasket when Man Utd fans look down their nose at Leicester. It's ridiculous really as there are always great players out there in weaker leagues who go on to the very top of the game. Furthermore what do these people expect, Leicester to go out and buy a 20 goal a season striker off the shelf from another EPL club, Spain or Italy. That ain't ever happening.
  22. This looks as if it has a chance of happening now, would be a sensational signing if it comes off.
  23. All quiet with regards Edouard at the moment in Glasgow, pretty weird tbh, I'd have thought him and Ajer would have been long gone by this stage. Dangerous game if we are playing hard ball given he's only got a year to go and we don't exactly have a host of teams battering down the door for him. Confirmed interest in the form of bids anyway. I don't think the new manager will have any say in Edouard's future whatsoever, as much as it pains me to say it he'll be a yes man and the decision to sell Edouard will be taken over his head for financial reasons. It's sad the way it's ended for Edouard at Celtic as I and most fans are at the stage they just want him gone. He should have gone down in Celtic folklore but I think the lasting memories of him will be stinking the place out last season, as much as it pains me to say it.
