  1. I think something like that is the dream window and it would be great. Reality I think though will be that 1 or 2 of those positions left unfilled, by the kind of player who would cost what the above would anyway. Champions league is a great shot in the arm financially but it's only £30m guaranteed, at the point of th summer window anyway. That's basically paying the biggest majority of Soumare or Gosens. Add in the backdrop of covid and everything else and it's perhaps not even an uplift of £30m overall. Realise I'm sounding like a prophet of doom here but I just think expectations should be tempered a tad in terms of net spend this summer. If a big sale happens mind you that would change things of course.
  2. Going to Leipzig, a done deal by all accounts.
  3. Sounds like someone from the grimleys!
  4. Seems AC Milan are trying to sign every player in world football if you believe the rumours.
  5. Good question, probably after a few months and I'd accepted Rodgers leaving
  6. Agree with this, criticism of Rodgers is fine and deserved, he makes mistakes and makes the wrong calls and if we can't say that then just pack the forum up and go home. He's not a protected species as far as I can see on here where people have a problem though is the vitriol, hyperbole and knee jerk reactions anytime there is a negative result. For example this week in this thread alone we've had: "the team is falling off a cliff" "anytime the team loses it's Rodgers fault" "he's f&ckin shit" "he's a bottler" I could go on. That's not criticism that's ridiculousness at best and personal vitriol at worst. Amazingly the backdrop to the comments above are us in a cup final, sitting in the champions league spots and on the verge of the second most successful season in the club's EPL history. In the context of the above, when balance and respect go out the window and people are downright abusive of the manager, particularl when the team are actually doing really well, of course people are going to get their back up and defend him. It's says a lot in a positive sense about this forum that so many are imo. Gimme dem reps
  7. Hopefully all the bed shitters calm down now. The other night you would have thought we'd already blown it and were about to go bankrupt. Very well done to Brendan and the players.
  8. Looks more than decent this lad.
  9. Was going to say exactly this, what Leicester seem to be very good at is succession planning and being proactive rather than reactive with respect to transfers. This is always something that has caused me a lot of frustration at Celtic and we, latterly anyway, have been terrible at it. Guys like Dembele, Edouard, etc we should be identifying a replacement for as soon as they come in the door and whoever that replacement may be should be signed before they leave. Firstly it eases the transition and gives the replacement time to settle and secondly selling clubs don't have your pants down knowning you have £20-30m burning a hole in your pocket. Sorry I went off on a tangent a bit there but Leicester are a fantastic blue print of how effective scouting and recruitment should work.
  10. The rest of the recruitment team have Congerton's number on their blocked list
  11. I know what you mean, I also believe a lot in guys like Klopp and Guardiola when they say all great teams have a shelf life before they stagnate, irrespective of age or whatever else, typically around 3-4 years. This is why I find it weird that people get hung on not losing any big players etc. Leicester have more reasons than most clubs to make sensible big sales regularly. The first being around the above, the team needs constantly freshened up to keep developing and to keep players on their toes. In most cases as soon as a player gets comfortable and knows they'll play week in week out there is a natural drop off. Secondly and perhaps most criticaly, where Leicester are now and the teams they are competing with they suffer from a huge financial handicap, every season. The only way to bridge this gap and stay competitve is to outperform these sides in the transfer market and make less money go further. I'm aware it's not an easy ask to do this season in season out but the model has to stay the same and that means at least once a season all going well sell a Maguire and replace him with a Soyuncu for a fraction of the price, Chilwell and Castagne another example. Some fans need to lose this ego trip of somehow thinking selling players makes the club smaller or less ambitious, it's a nonsense really. In a relative sense every club in the world is a selling club bar perhaps maybe one or two and that could change soon enough given the current economic difficulties facing these clubs. Keeping all the sellable assets and giving them improved contracts seriously risks standing still and stagnating while these other clubs, who have far greater spending power already improve further.
  12. Daka was never realistic/viable, talk is, like a lot of good Salzburg players Leipzig have a deal sewn up for him already. Makes sense given Leipzig still haven't replaced Werner properly, Sorloth has been a disaster. Even more likely that it'll happen now given Marsch is making the same move. All opinions or course but Toney at double the price, which is what he'd cost (£30m) is a far bigger gamble than Edouard.
  13. Did Rodgers not try and get him in his first summer transfer window and got quoted something mental like £40m or something?
  14. And that right there is the nail on the head.
  15. Take your balanced views elsewhere you rep warrior!
  16. Your hyperbole is laughable Trying to describe a side and/or manager sitting in the champions league places and in a cup final as having "fallen off a cliff". Hard to take anything you say even remotely seriously when you read guff like that.
  17. Yeah pretty much what I was saying.
  18. I like Maddison, I think he's a good player but I think out of everyone he'd be the one that would make most sense to cash in on to strengthen other areas of the side. Problem is this summer, with not a lot of money around and the top clubs already well stocked with creative players I don't see there being much of a queue for him, from clubs willng to offer enough to make it worthwhile anyway.
  19. Plenty of people are critical of him and deservedly so, he's a good manager but not without his flaws. What your failing to separate are people being rational and critical and people being completely irrational, being knee jerk every time there is a negative result and demanding he should be sacked. Look back through the posts of people like @Babylon and others, there are plenty instances where they are critical of Rodgers, the difference is it's measured unlike the brain melters who do nothing ther than howl at the moon. Anyone claiming he should be sacked completely discredits any point they make therein as it's such an absurd and ludicrous suggestion.
  20. haha yeah it's changed days indeed, it wasn't so long ago that the EPL was chalk full of Scottish managers. Yeah I'm pretty pleased about Howe in all honesty, of all the people linked that were attainable I think he was by far the bes candidate and like you say I'm hoping we are good to watch under him.
  21. PSG's sell on is 30% of any profit, essentially 30% of however much above £9m he goes for.
  22. In all honesty he's millions of miles away from being a first team squad member at somewhere like Leiceser, based on when he has played in the last 12 months he doesn't even look ready to be a fixture in our first team squad. All depends on what the new manager (seems it's Howe) thinks of him and whether he uses him, if he does then the situation could change but it's really down to Karamoko now, he needs to make that jump and prove he's good enough for first team football.
