  1. Edouard will be choking to join Leicester now two of his team mates are already there
  2. When your net spend over two years is £9m it's not really a pittance at all. That said if he's the right guy and been scouted extensively (which I'm sure he has given the excellent recruitment department) then fair enough for getting the deal done. I've seen quite a lot of him actually and he is a good player, interested to see how he develops in the EPL, he's got all the right attributes to succeed in English football.
  3. Yeah most likely the case. There's always an EPL tax as well I guess.
  4. £30m seems overpriced to me given his contract situation but he's a good player with a lot of improvement in him.
  5. Welcome to the life of a Celtic fan Our priority targets (the ones that don't have EPL offers anyway) tend to wait until mid August to see if we make the CL groups before agreeing to sign.
  6. Yeah I'd be surprised if anyone paid the amount of money to make it worth our while though.
  7. A lot of people have been asking about Karamoko Dembele and he's been tenuously linked with Leicester and a bunch of other clubs this summer. However word on the street is we actually have an extra year's option on him that we've now activated so he's allegedly now under contract until 2022. If true huge season for him next year seeing if he can make the jump to men's football under a new manager. We are crying out for some genuine width so the opportunity is there for him.
  8. People saying he needs to lambast the players publicly, I don't know what era they think that'll work in but it certainly isn't in today's era. As soon as a manager throws his players under the bus in public he's a dead man walking such is the ego/psyche of he modern day footballer. There's absolutely tons of examples of this happening in recent years. I couldn't care less what Rodgers says to the media post game and I was the same when he was at Celtic. The best managers always defend their players publicly. What gets said behind closed doors is something different however and I'd be amazed if last night Rodgers didn't go through them for that performance. As a point of reference I can only recall one such occassion where he slated the players unequivocally at Celtic post match and that was after a home defeat to Anderlecht in the champions league. Hammering the players publically on the eve of an FA cup final and the three most important league games in five years would be akin to Rodgers pressing the self-desruct button on himself.
  9. The manager markets are a farce, nothing to be read into with them. I think the max bets are usually 20 quid on them and a few of those bets tend to shift the market quite significantly. For illustrative purposes Mourinho for a few days after he got sacked at Spurs was 6/1 to be the next Celtic manager. More chance of my 8 year old getting the job than Mourinho taking it.
  10. Yeah we did tbh, I think I've mentioned on here before that by and large when we played in Europe under him we under achieved. I know some of the sides we faced were lightyears apart in terms of resources but even judging against previous managers who faced the same challenges, who weren't in the same class as Rodgers in terms of ability he performed poorly in Europe even in comparison to guys like Lennon and Strachan. One that sticks out was when we beat a pretty average Zenit side at home in the Europa League last 32 and then we went away and played far too conservatively and got spanked 3-0. We also suffered our record home and away defeats under him in Europe trying to play Barcelona and PSG at their own game.
  11. Yeah I said in my post Rodgers could have made better decisions tonight all I'm saying is the players tonight anyway were far more culpable. First goal Soyuncu is a disaster, second Dummet simply wanted it more, etc. Tbh Burnley have had quite a few sore ones this season, we took 4 off them earlier in the season as did Spurs. I get your point the team would have more steel under Dyche but you'd sacrifice attacking nous, games like beating Man City etc this season conversely wouldn't happen under someone like Dyche. Going round in circles a bit here anyway but I'm not saying Rodgers should be absolved of criticism tonight, far from it but some of the comments on here wanting him sacked etc are crazy.
  12. I get that, no offence taken. I obviously won't take it as badly tonight as most of you but trust me I know what failure feels like as a football fan, this season of all seasons. Rodgers could have done things differently tonight, particularly in the second-half when a reaction was required but even if he made the correct moves when people like Soyuncu performed the way they did and made the basic mistakes they made I'm not sure what difference it would have made. The most disappointing thing for me tonight was the lack of urgency and desire, no matter the personnel or system that should never be an issue, especially given whats at stake and on that front the players need to have a long hard look at themselves.
  13. I get that and of course it would be a sore one but I think people need to take a deep breath and be careful what they wish for. Leicester were EPL driftwood under Puel and for Rodgers to come in and two years in a row be fighting for Champions league qualification with a net spend of £9m is whatever way you skin it good progress. I'm not saying he shouldn't be criticised but some of the people wanting him gone and attacking him vehmenently any time the team loses a game is quite frankly emabaressing. There's certain posters on here, that every single game Leicester lose absolutely chastise Rodgers claiming he's individually responsible. There's no manager in the land that's responsible for every defeat.
  14. Net spend of what £9m since he arrived? Celtic have had a bigger net spend in transfers in the same time. He has his flaws and he should be criticised for sure but folk wanting him gone need a reality check.
  15. You'd think with these folk Leicester were a club that qualifies for the CL quite regularly and not pretty much a mid table side under every manager since the title winning side since Rodgers arrived. Rodgers shouldn't be beyond criticism but folk wanting him sacked in a desperate self-flagellation exercise because they've never liked him personally need a lobotomy.
  16. Agreed the usual suspects emerging from the undergrowth. The same suspects that are either invisible or muted in their praise anyway after a good result.
  17. What's two years in a row? Get a grip of yourself and stop shitting the bed still 45 minutes to go here and 3 games after this. You could write all you know about football on the back of a stamp.
  18. Tonight is nothing to do with Rodgers, players failing to do the basics of their jobs, not showing the requisite desire, that's on the players.
  19. There's been far more that have done well that haven't though around the last ten years though which renders the point, pointless really.
  20. Sounding like a broken record now but Demiral is a bomb scare. I think a lot of people are being clouded by him because he plays for Juventus.
  21. Dunno why there hasn't been a move made for Olise already in all honesty.
  22. I think Lukaku is a different animal now, he's far leaner and quicker than he was at Man Utd and Conte has really developed his game with his back to goal. I think if he came back he'd take the EPL by storm.
  23. Good point, forgot about him, he has done fairly well, a snip at £7m. Like you say he wouldn't get in the starting side but he'd be a great backup for Maddison and would offer something a bit different in the squad. He also has one of the best songs ever
  24. Inter are flat broke will be a good reason and Juventus are also on a sticky wicket financially as they try to offload Ronaldo and his wages.
