  1. The antithesis of what Rodgers looks for in a striker.
  2. He's not close to being as quick as Barnes, Barnes is absolutely rapid and regularly hits top speeds of 35km/h. I've said this before but I don't know what angle your driving at with him being big, it makes me question if you've watched him much at all. Yes he's physically tall but he's poor in the air and not aggressive at all really so his height in that respect isn't worth mentioning. I don't mean to pedantic but free kicks aside which he was prior to this season very good at I reckon about 90%+ of his goals for Celtic have come inside the box. Again, long range shooting isn't something I'd associate with him at all.
  3. He is fairly quick but not lightening quick. He tends to play on the shoulder of defenders when he's not peeling out left and is generally quick enough to run in behind most defences. Premier League defenders are naturally quicker mind you so it'll be interesting to see how he does in that sense. Although he's fairly tall I wouldn't describe him as an overtly physical striker whatsoever and added to that the weakest part of his game is probably his ability in the air. In terms of style he's very much like a poorer version of Henry, his first touch and close control is very good, he likes to peel out left and go past defenders and prior to this season anyway he's very composed in front of goal and is a very good finisher. He's pretty good from free kicks also.
  4. Yeah not half, pretty much the most transitional period I can imagine in my lifetime supporting Celtic. That's also before you mention all the loan players going back, guys like Duffy, Elyonoussi, Kenny, Laxalt, who are all guff anyway. It needs to happen in all honesty this squad has run it's course. I think we should be able to generate about £30m in sales this summer so that should be enough to re-build the side, the key thing as always is spending the money wisely however.
  5. He's actually the only one out of everyone who has had a decent season. He's been committed which is more than can be said for the majority of his team mates this season. Wouldn't grudge him his move tthis summer in all honesty, I'd want to leave if I were him.
  6. For $6m may have been a gamble worth taking yeah. Although the new work permit rules would probably have been a problem. Will look forward to seeing him in the MLS, watch a fair amount of that league, it's pretty exciting.
  7. $6m as well, pennies. I think he'd be too lightweight for the EPL though, like another Bernard.
  8. Not any longer no, that's been done away with for a few years now for teams finishing fourth in the bigger leagues.
  9. If Bayern and Spurs are in for you it's an absolute no brainer, you don't even need to think about it. One is a club who is steeped in history, competes season in season out for the biggest prizes in football and the other is, well Spurs. The leage they play in is completely academic.
  10. He does seem a really nice lad, pleased for him. I was thinking tonight, there is probably no one that could have been signed in January that would have had close to the impact as he's had. It's so cliche but he's genuinely been like a new signing.
  11. It's whatever it costs to buy out his contract. Multiply whatever he is on per week by the amount of weeks left on his deal. Won't be cheap.
  12. Well Rodgers is pretty much the exact opposite of that last paragraph there. Gym&Chill is quite clearly a helmet of a man.
  13. No predominantly left footed from what I’ve seen.
  14. Folly to judge a player on one game though. He's looked decent anytime i've saw him tbh, which is maybe only about 7 or 8 times admittedly. His stats are also pretty impressive, especially in a side that's as poor as West Brom are.
  15. Could do a lot worse than Matheus Pereira at Wes Brom in the summer, particularly if funds are tight. I wonder if he has a clause where he can go for less when they are relegated.
  16. Are you seriously at the wind-up of late with some of these comments? Leicester have a transfer model and track record that's the envy of most clubs in Europe right now.
  17. Spending a wad of money doesn't guarantee anything really though, nor does it automatically get you a player who can or will hit the ground running. Whatever the club are doing in terms of transfers I'd simply stick to that given how well it's working. Whether a player costs £15m or £30m I wouldn't read too much into that in terms of a barometer of success.
  18. Yeah Edouard could play in a two, he did it pretty well with Griffiths last season in the second part of the season and that was probably his best spell in a Celtic jersey. He's also comfortable playing up top on his own though. Looking at it personally for Edouard, given Iheanacho's rejuvenation I think he'd only get enough minutes if we continue to play with two up top or at least one up with one off. I'm not sure if that'll be the case as when Barnes is back and fit you'd imagine he comes back in and the shape changes. If it were a case of 1 natural striker starts most weeks and Edouard was striker number 3, which he would be given what Iheanacho is doing he might be better served going elsewhere as much as it pains me to say it.
  19. Like I've said to a few others look at the Iheanacho thread Large slice of humble pie has been been eaten and enjoyed
