  1. I did notice this today when he got to a ball in the corner he had no right to and he managed it by showing a good burst of pace. Personally I think he has quite a languid style which can be deceivng and make him look slow. Samaras at Celtic was a lot like that, looked so laid back and languid but when he opened his legs up he was very quick.
  2. Always laugh at this myself, people claiming to be have the slightest clue about the Scottish game and they don't even know the name of the league
  3. You clearly don't, top end of Scottish football is not bottom 8 EPL at all. Celtic and Rangers, with their current squads would really struggle to stay in the league. That said, that in itself is a bit of a misnomer as soon as both clubs had access to the riches of the EPL the playing staff would change beyond comparison. The rest of the league would all most definitely finish bottom of the championship and is more league 1 level so that makes me cast serious doubt on how much Scottish football you've seen.
  4. I guess there are players at all clubs who people have different opinions on, players who some think are world beaters and others who think they're useless. I'm not one for scapegoats and that wasn't why I was scathing of Iheanacho, I just didn't see what he offered, admittedly the little I'd saw of him. Happy to end up with egg on my face though, he's looked great the last few games and hopefully he's turned a corner and goes on to be a big player going forward. He seems a thoroughly decent guy so happy to be proved wrong. You won't see me doubling down or being pig headed next time he has a poor game, nothing worse than that and people who just want to be proved right.
  5. What was that sitter about! He's garbage
  6. I've obviously been scathing of the guy in the past but he's been very good today so fair play to him. Took his goal well and lovely awareness and ball to put one on a plate for Vardy that he really should have finished. Hopefully he can keep this level of performance up. It seems, in the time that I've followed Leicester closely anyway that he's starting in the last few games to make it difficult for Rodgers to drop him. It may just be his style but sometimes think he needs to be more aggressive in getting involved in the game though.
  7. Tbf the best chance so far he created for himself out of nothing.
  8. Celtic fans would be delighted if he came back period.
  9. I think it's taken as read that money/tv revenues drive the format and inclusion policy at the minute, that's not up for debate and not the point I made. My point was disparagingly dismissing the champions of Romania or wherever else and justifying the notion that they shouldn't be included due to the strength of the league or whatever. Using the winners of the championship, probably one of the top 10 most lucrative league's in Europe, as an example. Like I said that sort of thinking is the major issue in why we are where we are, why the elite clubs are so greedy and self-serving and why football is at real risk of eating itself. Why it's being commercialised to the point it's losing some of it's authenticiy. Like I said, calling the competition the "Champions" league has become somewhat ironic. Most of the teams in it haven't been champions of anything in years and years.
  10. That train of thought is part of the problem nowadays isn't it, it's all down to money so let's just include the teams who are the most financially strong and forget about the rest It's also a bit short sighted and lacking in self-awareness as if that's how you think then the same addage would apply with the elite clubs in Europe and Leicester. Why bother letting little old Leicester rub shoulders with Europe's elite. I don't for a minute think that by the way I'm just using it as an example to highlight the hypocrisy of your post. Let's ignore teams like the champions of Romania, who ironically have provided a winner of the European cup/Champions League in the past. If it was truly champions only the huge disparity in finances between the top 5 leagues and the rest may not be as bad. FYI there is already a third competition and it'll start next season, the UEFA Europa conference league.
  11. Obviously I have an obvious bias but given it's the "Champions League" I don't get why a team that wins their league needs to play 8 games to qualify for the competition proper yet another who finishes fourth in their league goes straight in. I'd probably object less if they had the balls to stop kidding everyone on and call it something other than the "Champions League".
  12. Those comments were made while Celtic were playing in the group phase of the Champions League. Four years later the matter hasn’t been addressed but there are now much more pressing issues for the club to deal with. Report here - It's even worse than that. When Lennoxtown was first built it was intended to have an indoor, full-size pitch. However, Lawell does what he does best and cut costs by changing it to an indoor facility that's roughly the size of one third of a pitch and as such utterly useless. Tommy Burns was apparently beyond angry about it all, god rest him. I don't get why we don't just bite the bullet and do this given the amount of spare land we have at Lennoxtown. In terms of cost I doubt it would even cost that much, if we can afford to invest £1.2m in a new pitch and £4m on daft disco lights we should have been able to do this.
  13. I'd be happy with that tbh.
  14. Yeah it has been most definitely down to the board. It is and it isn't if your meal ticket to jobs is your best mate then there's maybe little motivation to become properly qualified.
  15. I would be majorly surprised if it was Kennedy, season ticket sales would fall off a cliff and this is the be all and end all for the board. Lennon should never been given the job long term in the first place, he only was as he was a yes man and that's what they wanted after Rodgers who was a demanding manager. That said I can see the logic in not allowing Lennon to bring his own men in, last time it was a disaster as he just brought his drinking buddies in and it ended in tears with Thompson getting the bullet due to alcohol issues and Garry Parker not really doing anything other than keeping Lennon company in the pub. The latter didn't have a single coaching badge to speak of.
  16. I'd love Eddie Howe but I don't think he wants it. The strong rumour up here at the moment is that it's going to be Enzo Maresca. Would make sense given our informal association with Man City for some years now.
  17. He was on loan up here at Rangers for 6 months and was rotten.
  18. Very much so. Is he out of contract at the end of the season?
