  1. To be honest the match threads after a defeat are full of folk head banging about this.
  2. I'd say he's out of Dortmund's reach now tbh. The only place he'd go in Germany is Bayern now probably.
  3. Next Man City manager by all accounts.
  4. Agree with this. Rodgers should have been backed better and he was obviously frustrated by that but he'd reached a glass ceiling with Celtic as he'd won everything domestically several times over and never got the players he waned/needed for us to compete in the Champions League. Had we even signed the players mentioned I think he'd still have left as there was nothing left for him to achieve at Celtic and Leicester had a young squad with great potential who were vastly underperforming so it was clearly a great opportunity for him. Moving to a better league and earning a fair amount more in terms of money also. On Castagne, may be hard to believe now but we were very close to getting him as he was in and out of the Atalanta side at that time and there were quotes from him saying he was up for the move. Coincidentally we never matched their asking price of £10m, he then broke into the team and was a revelation after that. Funny old game.
  5. As I've said countless times in the past this is absolute tosh. We've had interviews with Rodgers on the website since he left, public statements thanking him along with the other managers who were part of the 9 in a row run last season. In fact the relationship between Rodgers and the Celtic board is probably better now than it was when he was here. If Leicester offer the asking price Lawell wouldn't think twice about selling. Selling Edouard to Leicester is the last thing on Celtic fan's minds at the moment given all that's went on this season.
  6. And your basing that on something the Daily Star says? That bastion of accuracy.
  7. Peter Lawell says: "Hold my beer!"
  8. Backhanded compliment that in a way imo. Leicester are too clever in the transfer market to spend £30m or whatever on someone there is no re-sale value on and/or perhaps with little room to improve. It would be a fair shift from a successful working model to go and spend a shed load on someone like Ings, as good a player as he is.
  9. Thought he was always a decent keeper too but his stats this season have been horrfic by all accounts, has the lowest shot/save rate I read.
  10. I don't think Desmond has ever taken a single penny out the club. He doesn't put a lot of his own money in either as he wants us to be run sustainably but he has done now and again such as to subsidise Martin O'Neill's transfer funds and paying Bellamy and Kean's wages.
  11. Scrappy one to concede, should have been dealt with better and not even been a corner in all honesty.
  12. I get your point but I've seen a lot of Bailey this season and he looks to be starting to realise his potential. He looks a completely different player to last season. In terms of the comparison with Under I don't think that's close to being valid or accurate, Bailey has produced far more than Under in terms of end product. This season alone he's got 17 goal involvements, 9 of which are goals at the half-way point. You'd imagine those stats will be even more impressive by the end of the season if he maintains that sort of form. If he does the big clubs will be sniffing around him again. Under has never got close to producing that in he last two years, in fact the most he's ever managed in an entire season is 16 goal involvements, 3 years ago. If he was available for decent money last season he wuld have been exactly the type of player I could have seen Rodgers moving his game onto another level. Like Ric said he's probably not value given what it'd cost to get him this season due to him playing well but if he can maintain this form he'll be lightyears beyond what guys like Gray and Under have or will ever produce. Only time will tell I guess.
  13. Fair point, yeah. Hindsight is a wonderful thing but could have got him for decent money last season.
  14. Mainly plays on the other side but can play out right too but what about Leon Bailey, he's found his form again this season and was unreal the other night when Leverkusen beat Dortmund.
  15. His wages would be an issue I think. Would be surprised if he doesn't end up back in Germany at Bayern in a year or two.
  16. Yeah he's stalled a bit the last couple of years in all honesty, still a fair deal of potential to work with there though and he's only just about to turn 18. Aah no offence mate but don't know where to start nor do I have the energy, an absolute shambles on and off the park.
  17. Heard of him @Ric Flair but can't claim to have any knowledge of him beyond that, must be half decent though. Add in Dembele who I think will end up at Leicester in the summer then that's four promising youngsters we've lost in the space of a year. The other two went to Bayern Munich. Can't say I blame them however, everything has gone to shit under Lennon not just on the park but behind the scenes also, which is what pretty much every Celtic fan predicted when he was appointed. Rant over.
  18. Never mind John Yoko would!
  19. Agree with this, he's not good enough to accomodate by having to change the system. Nealy four years is plenty, time to try and get a bit of money for him and sign someone who's good enough in the short term as a back-up option for a side with CL aspirations and ideally in the long term good enough to be the number 1 striker.
