  1. Yeah that's been a game changer for us recently.
  2. I was going to like that post until I read the second sentence! It makes sense, but no don't get him in!
  3. I can only speak for what I have seen at Celtic but he's been absolutely brilliant on and off the park. His signings have been sensational, I think out of 15/16 players he has signed there are at most 2 that haven't worked out and one of those were allegedly at the behest of Dermot Desmond. On the park the football has been breathtaking, the best I've seen in my lifetime anyway. Rodgers first 18 months was great but this is a level above and he's also had to deal with a decent Rangers side amongst that. The Rangers sides Rodgers faced were absolute basket cases. I do think it suited him inheriting the mess he did as it allowed him to start with a complete blank canvas and sign exactly the players he needed to fit his style. Going into another club where he doesn't have that luxury and has to work mainly with what he's got I'm not sure how successful that would be as he has a very high intensity, high pressing, open, all out attack way of playing which obviously only certain types of players can adapt to. In general I think we suit him, a big fish in a small pond, I'm not sure how he'd do taking a middling club in another league and expecting them to play the same way and get the same type of results.
  4. Did he not qualify for both World Cup's during his tenure and then left after securing qualification for the second one?
  5. Stojkovic, Hjulmand and Martinex the only ones that look like they would be attainable/useful.
  6. Probably be viewed as too big a risk at this stage but I'm surprised no one in Europe has taken a chance on Marcelo Gallardo yet.
  7. Christ, he's been battering the sun beds even worse than usual by the looks of things.
  8. Done. Don't let the door hit your arse on the way out Brendan.
  9. He needs to do the honourable thing and walk, he’s got enough money to last ten lifetimes already anyway. It says a lot about him that given all his successes at both Leicester and Celtic that he’s left or leaving both clubs and pretty much the majority of the fans hate him. It’s pretty sad really.
  10. Is horses mouth still on here? Can’t seem to find him to tag him, will be back to not favouring a Scottish team and following formula 1 instead!
  11. Natural order has been restored after that anomaly of a year. We are just too good for the orcs in every department!
  12. Throwing everyone under the bus now. Dont let the door hit your arse on the way out Brendan.
  13. Scary parallels with the Dembele exit with Rodgers, and Sterling too!
  14. Surprised at that, he's bombed at Nice but thought he would have had a better move in him than that, surprised Ajax or PSV weren't sniffing around for example.
  15. This is the classic sort of signing Rodgers makes and he basically never plays him, see Under Cengiz.
  16. Boyd is about as bright as an eclipse, best ignored.
  17. He has the final say on paying X for Y player though, he'll know his budget and he'll make the call as to whether it's value to spend whatever amount, for example he seen fit to spend £30m+ on Perez for example. He'll also have a say in the same vein in retaining players and be mindful of how much retaining a player will eat into his overall wage budget. I don't think it's a coincidence that he's ran up record wage bills at a few clubs now. Even his last window at Celtic has parallels with this one at Leicester where the club only brought in a bunch of loan players.
  18. It is his problem though, he's had more than adequate resources, he's used them to build even by his own admission a squad that isn't fit for purpose and the wage bill is now stifled with deadwood that can't be shifted leading to the stalemate. You can't just say he should have resources and totally ignore the context, resources aren't infinite. Should he just be given money summer after summer to waste, without selling anyone? If any manager constantly buys absolute crap in the market any club in that position are going to hit the wall at some point and this is what's happening now. Is the club's wage to turnover ratio not something crazy and unsustainable like 105%? If that is true then the proof is in the pudding, the club have backed him to the hilt, that's not the issue, the issue is Rodgers is incapable of using said resources in the transfer market to improve the squad. It's not the first club he's been at where he's made a shambles of recruitment that's culminated in a record and crucially unsustainable wage bill. It's analogous to a toddler that you give sweets who is then sick, you wouldn't just continue to give them more sweets would you.
  19. Rodgers splurging of funds and wages have been the main factor in arriving at this point. What should the owners do, become fiscally irresponsible and spend money the club obviously doesn't have?
  20. I'll be the first to admit this is easy to say in hindsight but I wonder if Arsenal were ever seriously interested in him. I don't doubt he was somewhere in their thoughts but it seemed Arteta was always their number one choice. Perhaps a hasty decision from the board. Parallels of the China stuff when he was at Celtic.
  21. I love how in the first sentence you say you still have a lot of respect for him and then by the end of the paragraph you refer to him as a "money grabbing leach"
  22. What ever happened to the guy from the US that was on here, that wasn't a fan of any particular team but was a "Rodgers fan" and basically supported whatever team he was at? Perhaps we've actually found Brendan's login for here! It would actually be less weird all of that if it was actually Rodgers himself
