  1. 33 year old Messi wouldn't score as many goals in this Leicester side as 33 year old Jamie Vardy,
  2. You'd think that's his agent planting such stories, he wouldn't even make Spurs' bench. Wages would be a problem and doubt it would happen but I'd have him at Celtic!
  3. Yeah the hype has died down a fair bit but I think he can still make it if he grows physically, from what I believe he has a fairly good attitude (other than expecting he should be playing for the first team at the moment) and doubt there is a danger of him turning out to be Feruz mk 2.
  4. This may be one for the development thread as he wouldn't be a first team signing but wouldn't be surprised if Karamoko Dembele ends up here come the summer. He's now being left out our under 23's squad despite starting the season on the first team bench. Admittedly he hadn't shown anything near enough as yet to be on the first team bench, it looked like a move to get him to sign a new contract which he hasn't done. A few years back Man City, Barcelona, Real Madrid were all after him but I'd be surprised if they were still courting him now as his career has stalled the last couple of years. He has frigthtening ability but physically he's tiny and still very much looks like a wee boy playing a mans game but I could see Rodgers going for him in the hope he develops physically.
  5. Good stuff, good to see him doing well, a bit of a late developer it seems as like you say I thought he'd have missed the boat n being an EPL player at Leicester anyway.
  6. facepalm! I never realised he was out on loan! How is he doing? Just checked and it's Luton rignt.
  7. Exact same thing happened to Kieran Tierney at us, he was third choice LB for the development squad and on a 1 year deal when he got a chance with us due to injury and nt making the development squad who were away playing a game when the first team LB got injured.
  8. He's already 22. Desperately needs to start playing games at some sort of level ASAP or his career will go nowhere. He should be loaned out on January 1st to a championship club.
  9. Yeah I saw the same, rumour has it lawell is going at the end of the season also though. The high profile managerial appointments we make Desmond seems to handle all those personally anyway. It's a good question, I think the sole reason is that we operate in a backwater league and a very restrictive market, there isn't much room for us to grow unless we leave Scotland. FFP makes it very hard for us to pay massive wages to entice better players to come to Scotland. Clubs like the Derby's of this world have the carrot of the pathway to the EPL and if they were to make it the value of the club will virtually double overnight. There have been a couple of tenuous rumours the last few years about Qatari's eyeing us up but not sure there is anything substantial in them. Our largest and second largest shareholders are already bona fide billionaires but hey don't really put any money into the club,
  10. Agreed. Don't get me wrong Bielsa is a great coach but what's he done so far at Leeds, took a side out the Championship that really should have been in the premier league anyway. Fair enough if he were to finish top 6 or something this season but it's too early to judge how they'll do in the premier league.
  11. I don't think your far off it here. Celtic would be a good move for Howe, a less risk adverse job to re-build his reputation and then walk into another EPL job in a few years, similar to what Rodgers done in all honesty. I'd take howe in a minute at Celtic although that would involve sacking the idiot currently in charge which our prehistoric, indecisive board seem incapable of doing. He's odds on favourite at the moment anyway.
  12. Think we'll win this and be quite comfortable. Having won the group after 4 games would be some going.
  13. I don't hink it's out of the question, all depends n getting a bit of luck when the CL clubs drop into the competition though.
  14. Agree with this, not saying it's right but it's changed days also, trophies define the success of a manager much less than they did in the past, outside the very top clubs of course. For example if Rodgers was here five years and qualified for the CL twice that's a far greater feat than a league cup or FA Cup.
  15. Yeah that's true. Rodgers aside not many top level managers last longer than 3-5 years at clubs nowadays given how short term the demands are. You either do really well and hit a bit of a glass ceiling and leave while your stock is high or it goes the other way and you perform poorly, or hang around long enough until it ends up that way and you get the sack.
  16. Not forgetting "we are terrible when we get beat" Groundbreaking analysis that!
  17. Yeah very well put mate, just got to take a step back like you allude to and appreciate the progress that's being made on the whole, you'll always get peaks and troughs within that.
  18. Yeah his main home is in London, I'm not sure that'll be the main reason though, like I said unsure of the motive just passing on what I heard. I always found it a bit weird as I always thought Chelsea was the one he'd really want, going full circle there type thing.
  19. I think he is showing promising signs this season in terms of adapting tbf. It's taken me by surprise in all honesty. Villa agreed was poor but games against the Man City's and Liverpools of this world we'll get beat 9 times out of 10 that's just the way the food chain works. That aside, wins over Man City, Arsenal can't be ignored either. If yu look at Rodgers recod against Man City over the piece for example since coming to Leicester it's decent in terms of performances anyway.
  20. I don't mean this in that I want it to happen obviously but I know someone who worked with him day in day out who said he was obsessed with managing Arsenal in particular at some point, not sure why.
  21. That's the exact point I'm makng, it is extreme as is the dalziel and pasce style inquest after every defeat lately! Things are going well on the whole at the moment so there is something in trying to savour it just a little! After all, it's football and things will take a bit of a nose dive at some point.
  22. That's not gettng doings or being utterly dreadful. Name me another side in the league bar Liverpool who don't have matches like that through the course of a season? In fact Liverpool in isolation have turned in a performance this season miles more "dreadful" than we have.
