  1. Can't see it ever happening, particularly the big leagus as the greedy oligarch's have they're grubby paws on most of the clubs now but the only way to avoid this sort of thing in the future is for fan ownership of clubs to become more common.
  2. Get yourself to Rugby Park for a killie pie my friend!
  3. I think he needs to work on getting fit and getting on the pitch regularly before anything else tbh.
  4. I think it's more about being ready than bad. Physically I don't think his body would cope with the rigour of EPL football at the moment (maybe not ever) but the best chance of getting in the shape and physical fitness required would hopefully playing a full season of competitive football somewhere. I think this is a fitness issue rather than an ability thing otherwise you'd have cut your losses with him before now. Like I said he may never be able to stay fit enough long enough to cope with EPL football so this loan spell is make or break for him. You can't go from essentially 18 months out injured, to a few under 23 games to then be able to make any meaningful contribution at EPL level, not someone who seems to be made of glass anyway.
  5. This season is make or break for Benkovic I feel. His only chance of making it at Leicester is to go out on loan, stay fit and get 30-40 games under his belt in the Championship, he's never going to make it playing under 23 football gven his injury problems and the associated disruption to his development. A fully fit and firing Benkovic from what I've seen is easily good enough to play EPL football, the hard part is the fully fit and firing aspect of it.
  6. There was a bid from McGregor last summer, Celtic and Rodgers both spoke about that publicly, problem was it was too late in the day to let him go, McGregor definitely wanted to go as well.
  7. We'll need to agree to disagree, in 20 odd years of the EPL any "trickle" amount is negligible.
  8. Yes because you competed in the champions league that season and even at that, that scenario was a complete outlier as this season is your first season in European competition since, let alone the champions league. I think three sides outside of the traditional "big 6" have ever made the champions league group stages so there's really not been much trickling down even in that sense. Going back to the original point, next to nothing trickles down to the other domestic sides who don't compete in the competition so in that respect nothing will really change.
  9. It's the first step on the road to making the European Super League the primary competition though, the bread and butter if you will. There won't and can ever be a clean break so this would be the starting point that they'll keep chipping away at year on year.
  10. A noble idea, but wouldn't happen for a multitude of reasons, ultimately money talks at every level.
  11. Only in the big leagues where there's a lot more teams going deep in the competitions and these leagues tend to be propped up in the main by TV money anyway, the EPL for example. I'm pretty sure the teams in the SPL for example go something like £140k from UEFA the year we made the last 16 of the Champions League which is peanuts in any league in Europe.
  12. Not much filters down from UEFA as it stands anyway in terms of prize money from their competitions as it is.
  13. This is football starting to eat itself right? Let them all f$ck off and play in they're who can generate the most money league. That'll leave the rest of us and allow football to revert back to it once was, a more level playing field, with more authenticity and it not being simply dominated by who has the richest owner.
  14. Fully agree so let's talk about that sort of stuff should the time come, hopefully it doesn't. This thread is chalk full of people talking about him being sacked, walking, etc which is just plain mad at this stage.
  15. I'm sure a hundred odd grand a week takes the sting out of it
  16. I think he's a bit overrated and dining out a bit on a couple of purple patches he's had. I may be wrong about this as I'm not as close to it as most on here but I don't get the impression he has a great attitude/mentality either. The age he's at means the next two years are crunch time for him If he wants to become a top player. When he comes back into the side he needs to start showing a real aggression to dominate games and do that week in week out and become a leader in this team in a creative sense.
  17. That's what I meant with my comment Leicester are in a good place and doing well overall so I don't get people discussing the manager getting the sack, smacks of entitledness.
  18. I could see someone like Pochettino or Allegri going there in a minute tbh, especially with the squad they're building.
  19. Not sure if he's box office enough for Abramovich.
  20. Pretty terrible, but it is every season in all honesty, it transcends Rodgers, it's been the same with managers before him and now after him.
  21. The modern day football fan is entitled in the extreme I'm afraid.
  22. it is crazy although not surprising. Lawell likes yes men so he can meddle in the football operation himself, Rose, like Rodgers before him wouldn't have been that, hence we ended up with Lennon.
  23. No he was the RB Salzburg manager before BMG.
  24. Yeah all things considered and taking a step back I think it's been a very decent start to the season.
  25. Agree with this, some perspective is needed, form has been up and down yes but let's see what happens when the season settles down a bit and some players start returning from injury. It's not unique to this forum but football in general but there's misplaced emotion in both directions, for example after the Man City game to now, the truth lies somewhere in the middle.
