  1. Excellent crosser of the ball also.
  2. Yeah hence the "could be nonsense" caveat, just passing on what I heard.
  3. Could be nonsense but heard this morning Leicester are prepared to offer us £17.5m for O'Riley if Spurs buy Maddison. As good a player as he is I'd be inclined to take the money for him tbh given we paid £1.5m for him in January.
  4. Yeah your right but it's totally different playing as a wide player when that's your starting position.
  5. I would be amazed if he left us this summer but even if he did that wouldn't be wise, he's not really a wide player at all.
  6. Not sure who reputable but I read on the BBC gossip this morning Monaco were linked with a £15m move for him. Got to be all over that if true.
  7. He did but we had loads on injuries in midfield then so he was sort of flung in at the deep end and did very well. In those first few games he suffered with cramp as he wasn't used to the intensity we play at. The plan was always to rotate him with Rogic and that's what happened most of the season after that until the final clutch of games where O'Riley made the position his own and done very well. I don't know where folk are coming from with stuff about injuries and him being a crock, that's just made up
  8. Of the three in terms of his strengths, style and the positions he takes up most definitely most similar to Maddison.
  9. Last sentence is entirely not true, he was rotated with Rogic since he arrived and if anything finished the season stronger and showed his best form then.
  10. Only been with us for 6 months but he's slotted in seamlessly, lovely player, technically great and a joy to watch, chips in with goals and assists too. He's only 21 so going to get better and can see him moving on from us for big money. Hopefully that's in a couple of years time though, would be amazed if he moved this window as we have champions league football to look forward to and with Rogic now having left he'll be the main man in the sorta number 10 position for us. Seems to have his head screwed on in that sense, he knocked back a new deal from Fulham to go to MK Dons to play regular football so I think he'll see his short term future here because we can offer that and it'll be best for his development to play regularly for the next year or two, doubt he'd have that guarantee at any EPL clubs just yet. Apparently it was a big boo boo for English clubs to have missed him as in terms of stats he was a no brainer, albeit at league 1 level at the time we signed him. Hopefully he breaks into the full Denmark squad soon and that'll increase his value even more. May or may not be something in it as Rodgers was at two of our games in the flesh last season.
  11. This is a good assessment of him. Physically a beast but needs work still on developing technically and in particular positionally. Given how technically Ajax sides play I was a little surprised he’s ended up there, expected to see him at Brighton or somewhere like that instead.
  12. He played CB with Rangers a fair bit last season also tbf.
  13. It’s hard to say tbh, he only broke into the Rangers team as a regular in the past 6 months and from what I saw he looked a very good player, albeit only over 6 months. I’m glad he’s gone as it will definitely weaken them.
  14. On a more general note, what the feck is happening this summer. Rodgers vocal at the end of season about transitions and rebuilds and then not even a single signing a few weeks from the start of the season. HAve been away on holiday for a few weeks so haven't been keeping up but something seems a bit amiss, stand-offish even. Maybe I'm being a bit cynical or paranoid.
  15. I think it's more the lies he's been caught out with in the past with Suarez, Sterling and Dembele the ones that are jumping out. Gerrard mentions the Suarez one explicitly in his book. The Dembele one in particular was pretty crass.
  16. I don't think there is a Rodgers link here at all, Elyonoussi was on our radar way before Rodgers even joined the club, we tried to get him after he played against us with Molde but he went to Basel instead and we've likely been tracking him since.
  17. Sceptical if that's true but if it was wouldn't be surprised, given he has a year left on his deal it makes sense for any prospective buying club to let the window rumble on long enough to the point where Leicester may get panicky to sell.
  18. Typical daft Man Utd signing with no thought as to how he would fit in given they already have Fernandes and DVDB who will want to occupy the same space.
  19. Yeah fair point, last year the market was stale for sure for obvious reasons.
  20. That's why it's critical to be brave enough to sell when players value is at their maximum, that's what keeps the wheels turning on the successful transfer model.
  21. God no. He actually had really decent stats in his time with us, he had a knack of popping up with goals but beyond that never really done much at all. Couldn't beat a man, wasn't quick, didn't seem like a winger but when played cetnrally would go missing. I wouldn't want him back at Celtic let alone at an EPL club.
  22. It's not sinister at all, it's a fact of life, he's a human being and a footballer, players form can and does dip all the time when they've stayed too long at a club or consider their futures elsewhere. The latter is undisputable given he's not prepared to sign a new contract so he quite clearly "wants out" and "sees himself elsewhere". Indeed, there is nothing wrong with that and it works both ways, conversely clubs are quite happy to dump players when they aren't contributing or not part of the clubs plans so players are quite entitled if they want a fresh challenge to look elsewhere. All of the above doesn't make him a bad person or a bad pro or invalidate all the amazing contributions he's made in his time at the club, it's an unfortunate fact of life in terms of being a footballer. We'll need to agree to disagree on this one.
  23. Each to their own but he's been pretty crap this season from the games I've seen and there are undoubtedly reasons for that, perhaps that his head has been turned and he sees himself elsewhere. Happens all the time with footballers, human nature and doesn't make him a bad person. Key thing is he's moved on before that deteriorates further as over the piece he's been immense and no one wants to see his contribution overall tarnished. Feels like you are maybe skirting around an uncomfortable truth here. Admittedly I don't go and watch him in the flesh every weak so my opinion only holds so much weight.
  24. Although he had 1 year left when he eventually did leave same happend with us with Edouard. Player obviously had designs on moving sooner, we kept him an extra year and he stank the place out that extra year. relative to his typical form anyway.
