  1. I don't think it's as black and white as that is it, the main reason for him falling out the picture is the (probably unexpected) rise to prominence of greenwood. On a loan deal he'd be a worthwhile, low risk addition.
  2. Aah right Me neither so trusted your word implicitly
  3. Can see Depay being an absolute flop there. Koeman is already a dead man walking.
  4. Think @Ric Flair said this guy is utterly garbage.
  5. Genuine question as I'm probably being naive but what is the big financial hit to EPL clubs from Covid? Match day revenue I get it but surely the life blood of EPL clubs is the TV money which is unchanged. What's the season ticket situation for example, is that where the hit is, are they basically not being sold?
  6. Same, he looks far more robust now than he was in his time with Newcastle.
  7. Good news, this guy is mince. Get the feeling he's been touted around all the EPL clubs.
  8. First time I've watched him and thought, now this is a proper player. He's set the standard for himself now so hopefully he maintains this consistency throughout the season. Cliche but if he does he'll really be like a new signing.
  9. That was one of the big issues with Congerton at Celtic and it was publicly pretty well known. He’d identify a host of players we wouldn’t have ever had a prayer of affording. For example, Maupay was on the infamous leaked list from his flat who went for close to £20m in that same window.
  10. Swings and roundabouts from what I can see, I imagine the loans to finance the training ground and whatever else are fairly subsidised in terms of interest so maybe can’t have your cake and eat it. They may get the sponsorship below the going rate but I imagine if you look at the big picture they’ve went above and beyond what most modern day owners would do and the club are way up on the deal.
  11. I think they are going to rue giving him that massive contract, just haven't ever seen anything special in this boy. Barnes a better player for me.
  12. Done relatively well in Germany too. Surprised no one has picked him up yet in all honesty.
  13. Why do Premier League clubs make such a big deal about qualifying for Europe and then when they do treat the Europa League with absolute contempt, the traditional top 4-6 sides aside of course? I might have a different outlook but I'd much rather as a fan see my side get to a European semi-final/final or at least go deep into the competion than finish say 8th as opposed to 10th or 11th in the league.
  14. Gotze - Finished Clyne - Finished Sturridge - Finished Pato - Was finished about 8 years ago Chupo Moting - Come on now All the above are has beens and have disasterous money pit written all over them. What's the point in paying someone like Gotze 100k or something like that to be a squad filler. Cavani of course would be great but don't see you busting the wage structure for him and how would he and Vardy play in the same team.
  15. It's pretty devious behaviour imo, the transfer window still has a few weeks to run. He should be putting on a united front and not sowing the seeds of a manouvre to shift the blame should the season not start well.
  16. Yeah and Rodgers is still the manager.
  17. Scary parallels from what happened at Celtic, a bad start to the season and he'll start throwing people under the bus. In fairness to him as much as I don't think he spend the guts of £100m wisely last summer I don't think he's been given proper backing in this window, as yet anyway.
  18. Reminds me of when we replaced Henrik Larsson with Henri Camara on loan. *shudders*
  19. Fair whack of add-ons too I imagine?
  20. Yeah that was my point, totally agree, so given what he cost I wouldn't call him anywhere close to a great signing, yet anyway.
  21. Has Perez been a great signing?
  22. I've not, in real terms he's proved very little as yet, particularly at Premier League level.
  23. He'd be an upgrade on what's already at the club imo though, McNeil isn't imo.
  24. Hard to get excited about this one, particularly for what I suspect he'll cost. He's looked alright anytime I've seen him but no more than that, fail to see how he makes the side markedly better. From what I've seen Barnes is already a better player than him, more dynamic with more to his game. I get they'll likely play in the same side but I'm just using Barnes as a point for comparison as I hoped, along with a lot of others that any wide player brought in would be an obvious upgrade on what is already at the club. Sounding like a prophet of doom here but if the guts of £70m is spent on him and Perez in the space of 6 months, neither of which is close to the type of wide player you've been crying out for then it starts to make me feel a bit edgy about recruitment overall. An obvious shift from a working model and good forward planning that was apparent pre-Rodgers. This is based on nothing and more a hunch but I fear Rodgers is getting the jitters a bit in terms of transfer targets given his poor record in this respect in the past and is going for "safe" options but wildly paying over the odds from them as they are EPL to EPL transfers.
