  1. If there's any truth in this then this is an example of Congerton at the wheel. Highly doubt this guy will be suited to or would prove to be a success in English football.
  2. Can see Bale ending up at Man Utd as doesn't look like they are going to pay the Sancho asking price.
  3. Define "proved". He's had one good season at Championship level. Plenty of average players have scored a lot of goals in one season in that league, Daryl Murphy, Ollie McBurnie, I could go on.
  4. Not in the slightest. No value at all in Watkins at that price, looks a half decent player but lets get real, he's had one good season.
  5. Villa sign Watkins for £28m. Paid way over the odds there if you ask me.
  6. You make a whole host of valid points there. There is a key difference you omit though, Guardiola has vast resources to go out and get the best players and those best suited to play this type of football. Because of that he can be rigid and steadfast in persisting with this style of play. Rodgers on the other hand does not have the same luxuries, he has to make the best of what he has and play in the way most effective to the players he has at his disposal, that should come before his footballing ethos but unfortunately it doesn't and it's causing some problems for him as a result. Furthermore, he ain't ever going to beat or compete with the likes of Man City by playing them at their own game, he needs to show he can adapt and cater for different types of opposition, this one dimensional approach will ultimately end up as his major undoing if he doesn't learn to adapt.
  7. Nope, in terms of how we played in terms of that high tempo, high pressing game we never seen it with anywhere near the same regularity again. I think team's got wise to it in all honesty and that was the factor. Instead of then changing up our play and going a little more direct so we could maintain a decent tempo we switched to that boring side to side possession game most weeks.
  8. Was the same at Celtic after Rodgers' first season, was infuriating to watch at times.
  9. You've already got plenty experience at the back tbh. A young talent with potential and who is capable of playing 15-20 games a season and developing into a first choice is exactly the kind of signing you should be making at the back imo.
  10. If Rogers was offered the Arsenal job he'd have been gone quicker than you could say intensity. He done the exact same at Celtic to schmooze his way to a better contract when there was feelers put out to him around going to China. One thing he's never been in his career is loyal. Not saying there's too much wrong with that in football nowadays, but lets not kid on he's something he's not.
  11. It's a no for me, pretty average anytime I've seen him. If he is to be the Chilwell replacement then that's a serious downgrade.
  12. Young. English (U21 international). Fellow EPL club interested. Would be a bonkers move to sell for that, any of the above usually go for about £15-20m easy.
  13. Same looks to be happening to us with our new goalie, two players in the greek squad have tested positive. This is going to be a common occurrence I think, best just to do away with international football until this blows ever. Which is easy for me to say as my national side are dog shit
  14. Brooks signing! Sorry for some reason thought this was the brooks thread
  15. I remember watching that game actually. Like @messerschmitt said it's all about opinions and most on here will have seen more of Iheanacho than I have but I struggle based on what I have saw to be convinced he's ever going to be good enough to be the number 1 striker at Leicester, Rodgers lack of faith in him seems to say as much also.
  16. Sounds like the Benkovic I remember well. He scored a few for us in his time here, seem to remember him saying he played as a CF for a large part of his youth career so makes sense. Rodgers seemed to really rate him when he was up here and play him whenever he was available so I don't think there is a problem per say between him and Benkovic I think it may be the latter not wanting to gamble on his fitness and waiting until he is truly fit and can perhaps do himself justice.
  17. I was talking about Iheancho more specifically but was Vardy not out for longer than that?
  18. Not sure at all mate, is he fit at the moment? I know I'm probably biased but I'd definitely give him a chance this season, if fit of course. If not send him up here and take Ajer from us
  19. Yeah agreed, all about opinions though I would say Vardy won the golden boot last year so he perhaps has the right to fluff a couple here or there.
  20. I'll take your word for it with Iheanacho as you probably seen him a lot more than I did in that period but I seen him in a couple of games when Vardy was out and he looked really poor, fluffing easy chances. He looks to me like he'll spend his career as an impact player, at least at EPL level anyway, don't see him ever having enough to be a regular starter at one of the better sides like Leicester. He's what 24 now or near enough and cost what £20m, I'd expect more for that sort of investment by this stage.
  21. He's proved he can do it as a starter for at least a period in the EPL which is more than Iheanacho. For me. Iheanacho's big chance last season was when Vardy was injured and he sank like a lead balloon and I really don't think Rodgers trusts him. For £16m as is being talked about I think that's decent value for King.
  22. I'd agree it's not the priority but Perez and Iheancho already proved when Vardy was out injured they weren't good enough to carry the torch and I don't see Barnes ever working through the middle and having to play with his back to goal. Like I said it's not the priority but someone like King at a reasonable price (this is key) would improve the squad a fair bit.
