  1. After reading this suggestion thank god! What's next, Vardy at left back? Perez also doesn't have to exclusively play RW either you know, it's not his best position.
  2. Ok so what you are suggesting then is to sacrifice one of the best full back's in the world and try and play him as a winger. Still makes next to no sense to me. This may be totally out of left field but you could always try and sign a winger and maybe leave the world class full back as a full back. Crazy thinking I know!
  3. Come on people aren't being even half way serious here about playing Riccardo further up on the right and expecting him to play as an inverted winger on his weaker side
  4. All the more reason to not push him forward then, obviously found his position at full back and he's exceedingly good there. If it ain't broke don't fix it.
  5. You really contradict yourself there re: Antonio, a decent player but not a top 6 player and never will be.
  6. Even more reason then not to try and tinker with that again. You've got one of the best RB's around, leave him to be a top class RB. The winger problem is one that should be addressed in it's own right.
  7. I can give you three for starters. 1. Riccardo is a full back, not a winger, the position and way a full back receives the ball and has the whole game and most importantly space in front of them is entirely different to how a winger receives it. It's not a case of simply throwing him further forward and he'll be as effective. 2. Riccardo is 27 and has played full back all his days, asking a 27 year old to try and change position all the while coming back from pretty much the most serious injury you can get in football is daft and highly unlikely to work. 3. The winger you need on that side as a left footed player who'll cut in and play almost like an inside forward. This is for two reasons; firstly as Barnes is a right footed left winger you need the mirror image on the other side to provide balance. Secondly, it must be a left footed right winger to allow Riccardo to be effective and bomb on and provide the width. If you have Riccardo and a right footed winger the right footed winger will naturally go on the outside and block off the exact space Riccardo tends to do all his good work on. The same applies for Justin if you swap roles and play Riccardo at right wing as you suggest. I could go on.
  8. Yeah that's most definitely the way of it these days.
  9. Matty Cash of Notts Forrest going to Villa for £14m apparently, can't say I've ever heard/noticed him in all honesty and I watch loads of English football.
  10. That wouldn't work, for a multitude of reasons.
  11. I've always felt for him in that he has never got a fair crack of the whip since arriving at Chelsea. I think he's definitely got goals in him at EPL level.
  12. We're never getting £40m for him that's tabloid nonsense. The record for a transfer out of Scotland is £25m in Tierney last summer, we're not a mere twleve months later going to get not far off double that for anyone.
  13. Fwiw I think you are better going for guy's like this than vastly overpriced, let's be honest average players like Tarkowski. Evans and Soyuncu are more than good enough for the short term which will allow the bleeding in of someone like Fofana.
  14. I think this is true, we (Celtic) apparently have a 17k people on the waiting list but I'd be amazed if we ever or anywhere near consistently sold 70k season tickets per season, hence why we've not made the ground bigger again.
  15. Whether it's a 3 or 4 at the back I guess will dictate the priority in terms of whether ir's a RW or CF.
  16. Agreed but I think he’ll end up back in Italy somewhere, his stock is quite high over there after last season.
  17. Yeah delighted tbh, it’s long been rumoured but I didn’t think we’d get him, I thought he’d be off to West Brom or West Ham. He’s exactly what we need, a commanding and no nonsense CB, a definite upgrade on what we have.
  18. That's pretty surprising, Lawell took home £3m including bonuses at us last season but tbh it's a disgrace he gets paid that much.
  19. I've often thought the same, given players are weighed and have their fat content analysed periodically these days. I'm not sure how it can end up being the case. Tbh in Rodgers time at Celtic the players were fitter and leaner than ever, certainly more than they are now. I guess these small margins make more of a difference at EPL level though. Morelos seems to get away with it just fine at Rangers as he looks about two stone overweight at the moment
  20. Strongest position is on the treatment table. Very much avoid.
  21. I agree with this, he's getting my vote for this season also. I for one think he'll prove a decent if at worst unspectacular signing but sometimes the writing is on the wall when people make their minds up so vehmenently about a player before even seeing him in action.
  22. I may be way off here but one thing that struck me about Tielemans last season is I thought he looked as if he was carrying a tiny bit more weight than he needed to. At elite level that can make a huge difference to match sharpness and form, I hope he's back in training at the moment in the shape of his life as that would make a difference imo.
  23. Well £19m wasn't enough last summer and he's since signed a new contract since then so I'd be very surprised to see him go anywhere for less than £20m, especially given Nthacn and Ajer seem to be heading to the exit door to plug the CL revenue gap.
  24. This could be a quite unbelievable signing as he is undoubtedly a Congerton signing (see previous Celtic interest) but I reckon he'll be half decent.
