  1. You would have sat here saying similar about Moussa Dembele a couple of years ago, who actually scored less than Edouard for us and now if you were linked with him you'd be in raptures as there's top clubs all over Europe after him. Edouard could go the same way, maybe he won't but the ceratin thing is if he leaves Celtic and does relatively well anywhere else he'll be outwith your reach. Players like Eduoard, Leicester's chance to sign them is when they're at Celtic as if he was at a Lyon, Everton or somewhere like that and done well he'd be far off your radar. I've said it before and I'll say it again but it's folly and arrogant to turn your nose up at the SPL in terms of finding value, particularly with the money you have wasted on players from the Portuguese and French leagues in recent years that are obviously stronger leagues in general. Said it before and will say it again, you could have had Tierney, Van Dijk, Dembele and John McGinn from Scotland and still had change form £60m who would all at varying points in time improved your squad and earned you very good money when selling on.
  2. Go and sign the top scorer in the Portuguese league again for circa £30m, that's a far stronger league in the past and that approach worked well last time didn't it.
  3. Ake is a far far better player than John Stones.
  4. Agree with this, £30m seems to be the going rate for which EPL clubs sell average players to one another these days, look under your own nose, Perez for example. Lascelles is every bit as important to Newcastle as Perez was, more so perhaps given he's club captain.
  5. Rodgers tried to get Schar at Celtic before he went to Newcastle as his release clause was £3m odd as Deportivo (I think) had been relegated. Don't be surprised if he's still on Congerton's "list". He'd have been a star for us in Scotland but have doubts over whether he'd threaten to start games for Leicester. May be a good cover option if he could be purchased for a reasonable fee.
  6. He'd be a great fit for Arsenal, they love players who are technically great at passing out from the back but struggle with the actual defending aspect of being a defender.
  7. We've been linked with him recently
  8. Barnes is still young so his decision making obviously still needs a bit of work, he'll get there.
  9. No disrespect but he's not going to leave Everton to go to Leicester, would be a sideways step for him particularly with Leicester missing out on the Champions League. Barcelona tried hard to sign him in January so he'll have his sights set a lot higher.
  10. The only sticking point with Stones is that he struggles with the basics of actual defending.
  11. Yet to see it with him, some games he's looked ok others he's looked pretty fragile, big season next season for him.
  12. He'll cost a fortune this summer, easy £50m, can't see you guys paying that when you already have Vardy and are crying out for a decent wide player.
  13. Dembele was done even before Rodgers arrived, we had been working on that since the January prior to his arrival. Like I said in the post above Edouard had nothing to do with Congerton. The difference was we wasted money on absolute dross that barely ever played, guys like Hendry, Kouassi, Comperr combined cost the guts of £8m which is a lot of money for us and if you add all the games they started in the time they were at the club it wouldn't total 10. All when Hendry goes will have left the club for free also. I can't think of one decent signing we made in the time Congerton was responsible for transfers (Ntcham again wasn't him, that was Man City who urged us to sign him due to the long standing relationship between the clubs). Since he's left we are back to signing good young players, who'll go for decent money and it looks like we have an actual strategy again. The summer before Rodgers left the board had lost all faith in Congerton as Rodgers identified three players needed that summer and Congerton's list with the players that fitted the bill cost £80m apparently. The guy is an absolute charlatan. It's telling the only way he can get a job now is by hanging on to Rodgers coat tails.
  14. Nope, they were both Lawell signings, he has had a cosy relationship with the PSG owner for a number of years now and we get players from them from time to time and play them in friendlies etc.
  15. He was a disaster at my club and we had a great record in the transfer market of buying low and selling high before he arrived and we've recovered now since he's left. Like I've said before hopefully his influence is marginalised at Leicester and he can't do much damage but the guy is a useless clown and has been everywhere he's been, there's not one single club he even done a mediocre job at.
  16. Ramsey is on 300k per week at Juventus.
  17. Bullet dodged on this one. Handing him a three year deal as he got at Brighton would have been absolutely daft.
  18. If you get him for £40m that would be an absolute no brainer, would be surprised if he was available for that price though given Everton were prepared to offer around double that for him last summer.
  19. I'm sure it's strongly rumoured Silva is signing with the team Xavi manages in Qatar.
  20. True or not I can actually see the logic in this. Barnes with his pace and direct running fits like a glove in terms of Liverpool's style. He's obviously not good enough yet to play every week at Liverpool but by trying to take him now Liverpool will be saying to themselves they could save themselves £30-50m than waiting on him developing at Leicester. His end product needs work but it's only in the last few years Mane for example has really sorted out his finishing so that won't concern Liverpool. Barnes is going to be a fantastic player and his numbers are good for this season, his first full EPL season and there is tons more improvement in him and he seems primed to do that as appears he has his head screwed on. Imo Barnes will go on to have a far better career than both Chilwell and Maddison.
  21. Yeah I guess this season is the first season he's really started to realise any of his potential so perhaps worthwhile discarding his numbers prior to this season.
  22. Dortmund have a buy back clause with him and there is a lot of speculation they are going to invoke it.
  23. Was going to say similar, not many Ukranian players seem to travel well and have successful careers in Europe, bar the odd obvious exception. We actually signed a Ukranian winger around 18 months ago, Maryan Shved who looked awesome in the obligatory YouTube clips and scored a lot of goals for his club back in Ukraine but has yet to start a game for us and is now never even in the matchday squad. Obviously hope he proves to be the exception rather than the rule if he signs of course.
  24. Agreed, Iborra mark 2, as much as he's a fantastic player.
