  1. Yeah fitness is undeoubtedly his biggest issue, I'd have no fears over his ability, he's one of the best defenders I've seen in my lifetime at Celtic, can only think of a handful who have been better.
  2. I'm sure he would but I wouldn't be paing £22m for a guy who still has so much to learn. If you can get him fit you already have a CB who is far better in Benkovic. Ajer was third choice even under Rodgers when Benkovic was fit.
  3. It's not so much his mojo it's more some glaring mistakes and moments of naievity. He still plays very much as a centre midfielder playing at CB, great at bringing the ball out but at actually defending not so good, gets caught wrong side a lot, dives in and makes rash challenges and despite his height isn't very dominant in the air. I think he's got potential and a lot of raw attributes that could see him become a great player but no way is he worth £22m at the moment.
  4. Yeah a fair point, although he was far better overall under Rodgers he still showed moments of real naievity under him also which he still hasn't seemed to learn from. I feel at £22m he'd be overpriced, considering you signed Soyuncu for a similar amount, he's not yet in the same stratosphere as him.
  5. This is a good point, everything will be relative, clubs globally will have to cut their cloth but as is the case at present EPL clubs will still be considerably financially better off than the rest.
  6. Ajer being linked again in the media up here today, £22m the fee quoted and specualtion says he wants to go. Based on his performances this season I'd drive him down to Leicester myself for that money.
  7. Kent is a funny one, he seems to be very good any time he plays against Celtic and causes us problems. The issue with him seems to be he's not very good against the rest of the sides in our league, think he had something meagre like one league assist this season and only 1 or 2 goals. Don't quote me on the accuracy of those exact figures but I know his return in terms of numbers has been meagre and the Rangers fans have been on his back a fair bit this season. I think he also bombed at Bristol City in the past.
  8. Carrick was an absolutely majestic player imo, if he was Spanish and played for Barcelona people would wax lyrical about him.
  9. Hudson-Odoi I've never been even in the slightest impressed with. I think Wan Bissaka is very good defensively, particularly in one on ones but he's nowhere near as good as TAA.
  10. My take on it would be there would be a natural cutting of the cloth for clubs worldwide after this, EPL clubs will be fine in the main as so much of their income comes from TV money and as such games behind closed doors wouldn't be that much of a hit revenue wise. Leicester may feel the pinch and have less to spend, however it'll be relative as every other club in Europe will be in the same boat and thus the same gap financially between the EPL and the rest will exist. Just my tuppenceworth on it. Conversely, my club and the Scottish league could be screwed for years to come, it could in fact be the death knell for the Scottish league. Celtic will be fine due to our cash reserves, prudent financial model and wealthy owners but not sure that counts for much if there are next to no teams left to compete against. All Scottish clubs rely on season ticket sales for the bulk of their income (Celtic have 53k season ticket holders for example and get around £3m TV money per season, inclusive of prize money for winning the league) and the league isn't rich enough to put all the logistics in place in terms of testing, isolating etc to play behind closed doors.
  11. This is a good observation, this was evident at Celtic where he seemed to believe he could spot diamonds in the rough and coach them into world beaters, change their position, etc. Seemed to work with the players we already had at the club but the ones we signed he tried it with failed abjectly, guys like Hendry and Kouassi and a few others. I've seen tons of Morelos and I'm not being biased here but he isn't in a month of Sundays anywhere near good enough for the EPL, never mind a team sitting top 4 and hoping to stay there. An absolute liability on and off the park, gets sent off all the time, never scored against Celtic (Celtic fans actually chant his name in games against Rangers), involved in numerous scandals off the park (his wife bugging his car, infedility, etc), any time he gets suspended he comes back way overweight, look at since the turn of the year, put on at least a stone and think he scored twice in three months, been in Scotland coming up for three years and has made no effort to learn English, still can't speak a word. On the park, not particularly quick, needs 3 or 4 chances to score one goal, snatches at things and largely is effective against the weaker sides up here as he can bully them physically. In the EPL he'd get 1 chance a game and he's not ruthless enough to take that and athletically he wouldn't be able to bully defenders in the same way as in the EPL they are bigger, faster and stronger and simply just a lot better. There's a reason the only bid Rangers have ever had for him is 3m euros from Bordeaux. Avoid at all costs would be my advice.
  12. from what I’ve read and have saw of him a few times I don’t think he’s all that much to write home about tbh.
  13. Your thinking of Kemar Roofe, he's a striker, Phillips is a midfielder and a very good one the little I've saw of him.
  14. Hope everyone is coping as well as possible in this lockdown, not been on much for the past month as we've adjusted to home schooling, job hunting, etc, etc!
  15. Not been on in a while so just seen this, been busy with the kids during lockdown. Hope everyone is doing well. We were linked with him but I don't think we ever really stood a chance of getting him, no way were we paying the figures quoted (£12m) for anyone let alone a RB. The research I done on him though at the time suggets he really only started to find form with Atalanta when they went to three at the back and he played wing back and he's pretty suspect defensively. I reckon you should be aiming a lot higher than Castagne if Riccardo is ever needing replaced.
  16. Leon Bailey looked great tonight when he came on, scored a lovely goal too. If attainable he’d be worth a punt imo, he’s stalled a bit but has all the raw attributes required.
  17. He’s been a bombscsre this season by diving in and going to ground too easily.
  18. He does, but some players get over their injury problems and getting him for essentially free (we paid peanuts for Ajer, £700k) on @Ric Flair hypothesis then it would be a risk I'd be willing to take.
  19. He was fit for a lot more than that at Celtic, 30 games in fact!
  20. Straight swap for Benkovic and I'd bite your hand off!
  21. Ajer's agent saying today in the media he's off in the summer. If the fee's that were spoken about last summer (£15-20m) are being offered I'd drive him to wherever he's going myself as he's regressed quite a bit this season. Leicester should very much avoid this summer at those sort of prices if still interested.
  22. Have no clue how big his influence is at Leicester but he had the final say at Celtic in terms of advising Rodgers on transfer targets. Until lawell got fed up with him and started taking matters into his own hands latterly, which wasn’t ideal either but the lesser of two evils.
  23. Not really, they have been best buds since they were youth coaches at Chelsea many years ago. His defence of him when being criticised at Celtic was that he said Congerton spotted that Neymar and Coutinho when they were 15 years old and identified them as going to be big stars. My 6 year old could probably have told you that. I'm not bashing the guy unnecessarily, he was an absolute disaster at my club and we weren't the first. I get giving him a chance and a lot of the things I read are similar to what a lot of posters said when he arrived at Celtic, "but Sunderland were a basket case", etc. Like I said, hopefully he's marginialised or brought into line by a decent recruitment structure at Leicester whereby he can't do much damage, problem at Celtic was that he via the Rodgers proxy had total control at Celtic.
  24. If your to get offered the money spoken of for Chilwell, circa £60m you should sell in a heartbeat imo based on his performances this season. Wouldn't be the hardest task to replace him with even half of that money based on his form this season.
