  1. Everything is relative though, the resources he had at Celtic dwarfed anyone else in the league and he only needed to find players that could win the Scottish league, that I keep seeing on here is league two level. You could give me £10-15m a season and a wage bill of greater than £50m and I could win league two. I just don't buy the argument that giving him more resources (money) will make him any more effective at his job, in fact I think it could be the opposite and he could be more destructive. We've never been able to spend fortunes for obvious reasons but John Park who came before him managed alright, signing guys like Wanyama, Forster, Ki, Hooper, Van Dijk, etc for a couple of million and selling them on for big money. Fact of the matter is almost all the players brought in under Congerton's watch barely even played in the first team, a couple being pound for pound possibly our worst signings ever in Comperr and Kouassi. The former played 60 minutes for us in 2.5 years and we paid him 30k a week on Congerton's recommendation. The latter, we paid close to £4m for, has played about a dozen games and is out on loan at Genk because we can't get shot of him. That's just two, I could go on all night about some of the others, Hendry et al. We had a very good track record in terms of transfers prior to Congerton and we're now seeing signs of it coming back now he's gone. The guy is a charlatan. I only hope his influence is marginalised at Leicester to the extent he can't do much damage.
  2. Yeah not sure how the logistics of it would work out at all. Maybe just can the nations league for a year? Would be a better option than ditching the euros imo.
  3. Latest things I've seen on twitter just then are some scientist has predicted it won't peak in a global sense until next winter and that the big leagues are lobbying UEFA to postpone the Euros for a year in the interests of completing the club football season.
  4. Looked good anytime I've seen him this season, proving to be a very astute signing. I know they are different types of players but Tielemans will have a job on his hands to get back into the side given how well Praet and Ndidi look to dovetail. I know there was a lot of hype about him during his loan spell last season but every time I've watched him this season I really don't see it with him at all.
  5. Fact Congerton is saying this makes me take it with a dose of salt.
  6. Not sure how true it is but he tried to get Wilson on loan at Celtic before he went to Derby but Liverpool apparently refused to do business with him, apparently there's a bit of bad blood between Rodgers and the board after negotiating his compensation and some of Rodgers comments about the internal footballing/recruitment structure there after he'd been sacked. Just what I heard not passing it off as fact.
  7. Agreed, if you look at England's options at centre back it's not hard to see why though, as poor as it's ever been in my lifetime. Guys like Mings, Keane, Stones and a few others I've probably forgot, all garbage.
  8. Would probably do well in Scotland but I'd rather we bled Dembele now than pay someone like Gray the guts of 40k a week.
  9. Any time i've watched him, for both Derby and Bournemouth, which admittedly is at most a dozen times all in he has played on the right cutting in onto his left foot.
  10. He plays on the other side from Barnes. I wouldn't be surprised to see Rodgers go for Wilson, he's been public about how much he likes him as a player for a couple of years now, sticking point may be Liverpool wanting to do business with Rodgers. All that said the sort of money Liverpool would want for him i'm not sure it'd be value at all.
  11. For Gray or Barnes? If Gray I get the feeling Leicester fans have been saying this about him for years now. Harsh truth is he's nowhere near good enough for where you are now let alone where you want to get to.
  12. I can see Grealish going instead of Maddison but if Barnes keeps up this sort of form then there's no reason why he can't be on the plane also. Bar the obvious picks like Sterling and Sancho there are really no other English, natural wide players pulling up trees at the moment. I know what you mean about the arrogant, ruthless streak though, he comes across as too nice a lad at the moment if that makes sense. That will come though.
  13. Based on the games I've seen it's Ricardo for me with a Ndidi a close second. Given all the speculation around Maddison and Chilwell being coveted by other clubs I really think these two are the ones other clubs will be circling like vultures for. Important to tie them up on long contracts and keep them beyond the summer. I may be being a bit harsh on Vardy but it's what I call the Larsson factor with him. Every year Larsson played in Scotland he should have won player of the year but because it was just expected he'd score 40-50 goals a season it just became the norm, a victim of his own high standards essentially. Vardy is in the same boat.
  14. Can the brains trust on here please start laying off Harvey Barnes now, he keeps developing at this rate then he’ll be frightening. First full EPL season remember and his numbers are great already.
  15. Superb from Barnes, keep saying it but he’s gonna be a star that boy!
  16. Physicality should be less of a factor if you move the ball quick enough.
  17. Playing well enough here, just need to turn dominance into a goal.
  18. Got to be beating Villa tonight, if not the CL challenge starts looking precarious. I'm hoping for a really fast start tonight, high tempo and blow them away early on. It's surprised me this fast start has been missing this season, even during the period of good form, as it was very much a signature of Rodgers's sides at both Liverpool and Celtic in the early years.
  19. Is this a thing at Leicester? Does the team get leaked every week? Happened every week for the last 18 months Rodgers was at Celtic and has stopped since Lennon arrived. If it's happening at Leicester then you'd have to assume the mole is someone who he has brought from Celtic.
  20. Preference is to stay in London as his family are settled there apparently. Has already knocked back Barcelona on this basis. On the basis of the above and with Mourinho there wouldn't be surprised to see him rock up at Spurs.
  21. This, he has to, he's got a duty to protect the repuatation of the club, what if he throws out a team of kids and Bayern take 7 or 8 off them, the fans would be in uproar and rightly so. Furthermore, is it fair on kids to be flung in like lambs to the slaughter at the Allianz, I wouldn't think so.
  22. Had I not lived through the 90s then you’d probably have a point mate, I imagine it would be boring. However, that was my earliest memories of following Celtic, watching Rangers do 9 in a row and not seeing Celtic win a trophy until I was 11 and not winning the league until I was 14. For those reasons it never gets boring and I’m savouring every last moment of this, the fact Rangers have lurched on like a comedy version of a soap opera in the last 8 years merely adds to the joy
  23. Just in from Celtic match so never seen tonight's game, doesn't sound like a vintage performance but sometimes results like this are the ones that get you out a rut and back rolling again.
