  1. It’s more approach and style of play I mean as opposed to specific systems. It’s obvious how Leicester are going to play from the outset and teams seem to have cottoned on to it. Even at 0-1 last night it was the same side to side stuff and recycling possession when the kitchen sink should have been getting flung at the side with the worst defence in the league.
  2. Don’t want to see this turn into a Rodgers bashing session and trying to look at it pragmatically but this is akin to a lot of the criticism he faced latterly at Celtic and from what I believe at Liverpool. The obvious difference to when he was at my club is he’s in a better league, with better opposition and sharper managers who have sussed out how Leicester play and as such can negate it. He is reverting to type and sticking to his one dimensional way of playing when it’s so obvious teams have worked out how to neutralise it. He got away with this stubbornness in Scotland as our players were so much better than the rest and we still won games latterly in spite of this, despite it being a tough watch. Watching the match last night with the blind faith in passing the ball side to side constantly would put you to sleep and it was obvious bar the Iheancho goal you could have played all night and not scored. Real top managers can adapt and keep their opposing counterparts guessing in terms of style, approach and tactics. Unless Rodgers realises this and adapts quickly this could go sour as I don’t have a lot of faith in him being able to turn this around via the transfer market where he seems to struggle everywhere he’s been.
  3. Look very blunt in an attacking sense without Vardy or if he’s not firing. No coincidence the real purple patch in the season coincided with him being on fire. £70m quid or thereabouts spend on Perez and Tielemans in the summer at the moment isn’t looking like money well spent. Perez looks like a squad player to me, not someone who can be relied on week in week out. Need a serious injection of threat and quality in all attacking positions. I don’t watch him every week granted but Maddison imo is a good player and not much more than that. If you were to get the £80m being quoted for him I’d take it and use it to supplement rebuilding in those attacking positions.
  4. Last night was the epitome of 'Arsenaling it'
  5. Have heard worse shouts tbh and he's done very well at Roma this yearand although no world beater he's good at the basics of defending and proven at EPL level. I've always felt a bit sorry for Smalling as his game has suffered for years with having to man mark Phil Jones as well as the opposition striker.
  6. Always thought that was absolute suicide given the attacking threat they lost in Jovic and Haller. Andre Silva has flopped at them and can't remember the other lads name, Pacienca (sp) maybe, the guy with the man bun, couldn't hit a cows arse with a banjo the few times I've watched them this season.
  7. Looking forward to tonight's game after that dog sh!te last night
  8. Quite simply, money, for traditional footballing nations with a large population anyway. The more money clubs have to spend the greater the players they can attract to the league which in turn enhances the product. What makes a 'competitive league' is maybe the more pertinent question. Just because Liverpool and the franchise are a good bit better than the rest of the league doesn't detract from how good a league it is in terms of quality, it just detracts from the competitiveness of it. I don't consider good and competitive to be the same thing, it can be one the other or indeed both. I don't really get the bit about people referring to it as a poor league though, from where I'm standing it's widely considered to be the best league in the world.
  9. I think Wilson is half-decent but no more than that, he's your archetypical EPL youngster though who will be hugely overpriced because he's young and is at a top club, as you allude to £30m or whatever would be nuts for him. I have a fear Rodgers may do it though as he tried to get him at Celtic on loan twice and obviously would have known a lot about him at Liverpool when he was manager there and Wilson was younger.
  10. means he's basically a passenger in a defensive sense.
  11. He wasn’t getting a look in at Genk. He looks a decent player the few times I’ve saw him but he strikes me as a luxury player, looks a man down defensively. Admittedly I’ve only seen him a few times, barring the Euro 21s in the summer, but from what I have seen he’s a long way to go before being an EPL level player.
  12. Tend to agree with this, he's an ever present in a Villa side that are leaking goals like a sieve and given the lack of decent options at CB for England at the moment I don't place too much importance on 'England International' in that position.
  13. Did you see his goal on Sunday night? Absolute thunderbolt Seems to fit a similar profile to Ricardo in terms of circumstances, if he were to sign and turn out half as good as him then that would be a great signing.
  14. In a game against Man City that is a penalty Leicester would never be awarded. Had it been Schmeichel cementing Aguero similarly though then VAR would probably have intervened and awarded them the pen.
  15. I like him but I know what you mean, he seems the definition of a luxury player, not someone you can rely on week in week out.
  16. He’d certainly be a different type of option up front, the concern with him though would be he needs a hell of of a lot of chances to score one goal.
  17. I’d imagine the reason for still pursuing it would be maybe Rodgers isn’t all too pleased with Tielemans output. Even bringing someone who would be breathing down his neck may improve his form, at the moment there is no obvious competition for his place given Praet is a different type of midfielder. Leicester bid for him late on in the window but we rejected the offer that’s why it didn’t happen. Had no time to find a suitable replacement and we’d already sold Tierney a couple of weeks before so didn’t need to sell.
  18. Think this is a decent shout, he’s pretty raw but has all the attributes to be class If developed properly and there’s not many better than Rodgers than developing attacking players in particular.
  19. Aah I see, maybe you should toddle off to Portugal again and sign a guy with an exotic name for circa £20m, that’ll work out a whole lot better. Thank the lord Rodgers won’t have such hair brained logic when it comes to identifying players.
  20. I don’t think you can file this one under that same bracket tbh given rodgers actually bid for this player in the summer and rumours in Glasgow have been rife for approaching a year now that both Rodgers and the player are keen for the move. It’s not unfounded for the simple reason alone that he has tried to sign McGregor less than a year ago. All the others, Ajer etc I agree can be put down to lazy journalism. Furthermore, just about every club he’s been at he’s signed at least one player he’s worked with before.
  21. I get that to a point but there’s also the argument succession planning for life without Vardy may be something that has to happen at some point.
  22. He looks a class act the little I’ve saw of him.
  23. Ajer I think has potential but he’s regressed a fair bit this season, based on his performances and the money spoke about previously (£20m) I wouldn’t go near him at the moment if I were you guys. The sure things in our squad who could go down and thrive in the EPL are without much doubt are Edouard and McGregor. Beyond those two there a clutch of riskier players in that regard who I think it could go either way should they move to a top league are guys like Forrest, Christie (at the moment) and Ajer. Frimpong if he keeps going the way he is could be one of the best we’ve sold on in a long time, won’t say produced as we got him from Man City due to a fortunate series of events and our long standing relationship with them.
