  1. I get what you mean. but having him for one season kind of like we did with Tielemans albeit that was shorter term. Have an option to buy in the clause if James does well. He will be a good option 3rd 4th choice winger and will push Barnes and Perez. On loan so financially not too bad for us especially at the present state. I dont think United will loan to us due to being higher than them and he wont have guaranteed first team for us. I can see him going to a Bournemouth or Palace instead.
  2. I completely understand what you are saying. Dortmund standing in the game is incredible as one of the top sides. I think as a club to aim for we should be looking at their model. Style of play, scouting such as players they can sign, sell their best player each year + rebuild. For a club to aim for in the next 10 years say they are a superb model. Their fans, stadium, infrastructure on and off the pitch. Superb. Leipzig are a great shout as well. More like us for sure at the moment. Very good young coach - The way they are trying to break into the champions league places in a top league, scouting network and how they find young players who they develop and sell for high values. Constantly rebuilding. Great young coach who is leading them superbly, post covid - results have not been great but as a team they play superb football. I don't know their starting 11 as well as Dortmunds so can not really comment any further. Shows how far we have come looking at these sides and no longer our league 1 and constant championship days under Milan Madaric.
  3. On loan not a bad option. Wont be a starter but for squad games would fit in well. Was sure we looked at him whilst he was at Swansea.
  4. Cantwell looks a very good player and would be ideal competition and squad rotation for Maddison / Tielemans I feel, especially if we get Champions league / European Football. I like the left back Lewis as well but only if Chilwell leaves. Would you take Zaha? I feel Grealish loads of clubs after him, and definitely less competition for Zaha. He is always doubled up on at Palace, could be a great outlet with us. Zaha, Vardy Barnes in a front 3 could be good.
  5. Grealish would be the standout one I feel, as we have seen this season he is a superb player and would make us better. Estimated around 80million according to various reports. If we believe them. I am unsure of Fraser, last season outstanding this season very very average. Deulofeu has a lot of ability but his stats for goals and assists are not great. Brooks would be good, but after a year long injury would he be as good as before. Very talented player and fits in with profile we have been after. Young, talented players who we can develop and sell for big money. Grealish on that list, for me, but huge competition for him.
  6. Watching the Dortmund game, they are a fantastic club I think we can model ourselves on. Extremely well run, a lot of experience in GK, CD, CM positions and a lot of young talented players everywhere else. They lose their best player almost every season for vast amounts, and replace with younger quality players. Regular in the champions league too and play very attacking, quick passing style of football.
  7. A winger who can do that would be the ideal player for us. Someone recommended Leon Bailey in a other thread. I agree we need a very good winger. The problem will come down to the cost and if these better players want to join us instead of a Man Utd / Chelsea / Arsenal for example. Sarr at Watford could do a job if they do go down.
  8. Superb players, we have a solid lead to 5th place but our run of fixtures especially at the end of the season is not easy. If we do qualify for Champions League Bailey especially will be a huge player and massive boost to the current team.
  9. I get what you mean. Similar traits when playing. I think Gray has been living off his potential for a while now.. Redmond I feel is a lot better with the ball. End product more consistent. For me would be an upgrade on Gray. Not a big name so wont cost a fortune but great ability and can be a good squad player and push Barnes / Perez for the starting wide roles. Harsh on Perez maybe as he is not a winger but that position I feel is our biggest area we can strengthen.
  10. Nathan Redmond could be a useful player. On his day very good with the ball. Wouldn't cost a fortune. If get champions league will be a good option to have in the squad.
  11. Thankfully we don't have to make these calls.. I think we learnt from Kante contract clause / Mahrez wanting to leave situation how best to sell our players. I think you are correct we will have players for 3 years roughly. Get them to a level and then sell for very high fees. However, when we did that with Maguire we were not in contention for Champions league. Now with the training ground almost completed / Stadium expansion maybe in 2 years time and if we manage to stay challenging for top 4, maybe these players will want to stay and then we can even build on the quality we have. Still it is so surreal from Peter Taylor days, Sven blowing vast amounts on any player with half a reasonable reputation in England, Martin Allen signing anyone who did well in Football Manager. Still can't believe it when I see us now.
  12. I understand your point ripe for the taking. However if we are going to sell we will get world record fees for any of our players. Other clubs will know they can not get our best players on the cheap. Contracts are not running down like Arsenal have had with Alexis, Ozil, Aubamayeng for example. It does show we will sell our players but not held to ransom.
  13. If price is correct 85 million for Chilwell then I would definitely sell. That amount another record transfer is too much to turn down. We have an incredible training ground on the way. Stadium expansion in the works. Potentially champions league football to look forward too. We are on way to being a top European club. The Norwich lad who scored against us looks a decent option and with Norwich likely to go down, selling could be a must for them and keep the price reasonable. Or Telles from Porto if want to go further afield.
  14. Could be our Milner to Liverpool currently. Great experience and attitude around teammates and the club. Not a problem off pitch. Can play a number of roles and good competition for places. Can push Barnes and Perez for starting roles, and fill in if needed for Maddison / Youri / Praet. On a 2-3 year deal maybe with a view to going into coaching staff afterwards could be a very good deal. Realistic wages and could do well for us.
  15. All those left the club under better circumstances for sure. As horrible as the way he left the club is, he has won 2 league titles since, even though barely played this season. I think as a player he would be the perfect option to improve us. If the players would have him back after he chose to leave, and the manner of the departure, its the type of player who can keep us challenging for European football. Ayoze Perez works very hard but his goals / assists are quite a long way below Mahrez double figures on each. His attitude was poor at the end, granted, but we got a decent fee learnt how to not let players go on the cheap so off the pitch we gained valuable lessons re Maguire and any future decent player who leaves us. But if he wanted to come back I would certainly not hold it against him. As you said at the end, all this talk could be pretty pointless as we might not even go for him in the first place.
  16. I can easily see your point in this over how reacted and tried to leave. It is a tough one, but if we gets Champions League football, we can not deny Mahrez in this side in place of Perez will only make us a superior side and real chance of top 4 football again, even though Man Utd will spend lots again. He was our only outlet really so was always doubled up post title win. In this side teams can not do that as we will have Barnes / Maddison / Tielemans. Who are all capable of assisting and scoring. More to come from Youri next season I feel.. If he will be on a good Leicester wage like Vardy and not Man City ridiculous ones, he will be a superb player in this side.
  17. Grealish should be a priority I feel. Very expensive I am sure, but with his age there will always be resale value. If get champions league, we will have the money. Grealish, Maddison and Barnes. Superb and exciting attacking 3 behind Vardy. Stick with the philosophy of younger players with potential. The days of just having Mahrez as our main outlet are over and we can have a superb attacking unit. He is a fantastic player and will encourage Maddison, Chilwell, to stay. Coutinho is excellent, but would he settle in the midlands and get on with our current team. Grealish I feel will be a better fit for our team.
  18. On a different topic- please move if needed. After watching the Last Dance on the Chicago Bulls / Michael Jordan which was a fantastic documentary. Not a basketball fan but the behind the scenes and mindset of a winner was incredible to see. Wondering the possibilities of a short series like this on our title win. Thinking coming from where we did 10 years ago in league 1, to winning the league with a different style of play, not buying the league, the players deemed not good enough by the bigger side, 5000-1. Could have a fantastic documentary on this as well. I am aware / and have watched the main clubs title win videos, but they mainly focus and show the goals and celebrations. Surely something with interviews on all players, coaching staff, oppositions thoughts could well be worth a show.
  19. Makes sense really. Either we do well and aim for champions league each season and keep this team together. Sounds strange saying it considering we were league 1 only a decade or so ago. With the current age and potential of the players I do feel we have superb opportunity to stay 6th - 3rd with a couple of good signings. We messed up transfer window after winning the league but since then we have done very well overall. The new model of young talented players and sell on for huge money if they do move on, we will not be bullied into cheap sales, play exciting attacking football these are great times for our club. The manager is superb and is held in very high regard. If anyone leaves certainly can not begrudge a move to a Barcelona. If any went to a Spurs, Arsenal at the moment I would have a problem as I genuinely don't think they are any better than us, take starting 11 from both sides we hold our own.
  20. Completely understood on your point, and with all current restrictions this is very correct. Just relating to certain news that Airline seats especially in economy are apparently only keeping the middle seat unoccupied. If can use that theory then hopefully can get more people to attend football matches. Understood was definitely not the best idea though..
  21. Would it be fair to have just season ticket holders attend In all grounds. Of course they would have to keep to rules. I think we have roughly 20k season tickets sold so there is space to keep to regulations. I am not a season ticket holder that's not why I am suggesting this, just think at least with some fans in attendance there will be a better atmosphere, no clubs will have to give refunds for matches missed and players will have people to play in front of instead of feeling they are playing a training session. Likely this is unfair to the home side, but then everyone has same allocations when playing at home.
  22. They have missed a load of names on their as well. I guess being the BBC they have to try and incorporate as many clubs as possible in their selection. Le Tissier will be number 1 I am sure they will go for. Speed will be number 2 great ex pro they will say. Vardy 3 I reckon they will go for. Personally would go Vardy 1, not just because played for us. But not only he has been our top scorer and kept us in the premier league and he has also won the league with a club outside of the big 6.
  23. What a signing he will be. Statement of intent right there. About time clubs stopped trying to poach our best players and we go after some of the most promising ones in the league.
  24. C. Weale K. Naughton G. Mcauley Jack Hobbs Van Aarnolt Paul Gallagher M. Oakley - Personally think he is undervalued. Captained a great side in L1 and the champ. M. Davies Lloyd Dyer M. Fryatt S. Howard Always rated Ian Hume whilst he was with us as well. Berner was very good left back. For what Kane has gone on to do hard not to include him, but purely going on form for us he was pretty hopeless if I remember correctly. Kisnorbo when he moved to cb was class as well. Sol bamba looked awesome on his debut. That was about it.
  25. You have a very valid point of Peter Taylor time at our club. Certainly was the start of a massive downward spiral. But, potentially without this time we would not have had the success of recent years. Plus the league 1 and championship titles, even the heartbreaking Watford game are incredible moments for our football club. You are not wrong Taylor was woefully out of his depth and no wonder few years after us he was not even in jobs in the conference. Good with the bad I guess.
