  1. Playing out from the back doesn't work if the other team is high pressing and has the better technical players. Then you have to play the ball over the top and outrun them like we did with Man City when we beat them away 5-2.
  2. Castagne is one of our better players!
  3. How were Coventry (not in premier league) affected by Everton's breach of premier league rules?
  4. The premier league is a joke, They don't enforce their rules in a meaningful way (i.e. points deductions). Rich clubs can easily pay off fines. Independent tribunes are just a delaying tactic. Some clubs are now owned in reality by states. Clubs that flout the rules get away with it.
  5. Sorry, I didn't scroll down the page far enough.
  6. According to local newspaper in East Anglia, Hirst has gone to Ipswich on loan.
  7. It wasn't Ndidi's fault that the defence played deep as soon as Southampton woke up and started attacking.. Rodgers made bad substitutions again by taking Vardy and Perez off and we stopped the high press.
  8. I was listening to the scores on my short wave in Oklahoma and the reception was lousy. I managed to hear through the crackles that James had scored but that WBA were playing against 10 men. All very nerve wracking!
  9. In those days Graham Cross would line up next to the centre forward with 8 on his back at the kick off and immediately afterwards drop back to become a second centre back. McLintock (4) would then move further forward. This confused opposing teams who were used to man-to-man marking and rigid formations. I went to the cup semifinal at Hillsborough. I stood behind a goal on the terraces near some scary teddy boys from Liverpool as the crowd was not segregated in those days. Stringfellow scored with a header after about 20 minutes, then it was backs to the wall. All the second half action was near our goal (far from me). I remember they had about 30 shots with St John having several. Banks was superb and the defence also was immense with several last ditch clearances. It was nerve wracking!
  10. 3 minutes after he gave a penalty against Morgan at a corner in the 85th minute, we had a corner and a West Ham player had his arms all over Huth's neck so he couldn't jump. Jon Moss chose not to see it. For Vardy's first yellow, he clearly got to the ball first. The second yellow for diving, Moss was about 30 yards behind the play and didn't have a clear view. He's the worst in the premier league.
  11. Mike Stringfellow, direct, lots of pace, good header of the ball.
  12. Jimmy Bloomfield used to trip himself up in the penalty area. The crowd used to laugh as did the ref. I don't remember Banks having any problem with crosses.
  13. As a defensive midfielder, Hamza strays out of position a lot.
  14. How else are the fans to know the game time?
  15. Years ago in the US they had a clock on the big screen, which was stopped for injuries and counted down the seconds like in American (gridiron) football. It ruined the end of the game as the side in the lead knew exactly how many seconds to waste and the crowd would count it down for the home team. I am opposed to anything that Americanises the game!
