Project CARS

Recommended Posts

I won't be getting this until early June when I get the last of my coursework done and it's going to feel like the longest month ever. It's the first game I've been properly hyped for in years. It looks almost perfect.

I've been a member or whatever you call it since this launched  on PC and have been playing it on and off for the last year or so. I currently don't have it installed as I was running out of space on my PC until I added an extra 1 tb hdd.

It looks and plays fantastic I just wish I had a better PC to do it justice. I will have to download the final version now it is about to be released and hope it has been better optimized as I was struggling to play it at decent frame rates.

I read the other day that the console versions run it at roughly medium settings on PC with some things set at high.  It looks incredible on ultra PC settings but then you'd need to throw a lot of money at it to have it looking so good.

Community assisted development with the focus very much on simulation, you don't really get many of those these days.

But my main complaint is that in a game called Project CARS

There really aren't many cars in it for a game releasing in 2015, good as twice as many tracks as card. No Honda, Toyota, Alfa, Dodge, Chevy, Ferrari, Lamboghini, Jaguar, Koenigsegg, Lancia, Maserati, Mazda, Nissan, Porsche or VW.

Now IF the game plays as good as it looks I'll be happy to over look all of that, given the extensive game modes, but it's definitely raised my eyebrow,

Not really followed this game at all. What makes it any different to every other driving game?

As a Gran Turismo fan, Project CARS has many features that I've wished to be included in GT for years.

Huge grids (up to 57 on PC, 40 on consoles iirc)

Multi class endurance races

Full Endurance races up to 24 hours (this was taken out of GT6)

Career progression based on results, rather than grinding XP and credits

Fully customisable race events

On top of this, we get an amazing assortment of race tracks, including 5 British tracks, with more on the way.

1 a month isn't exactly spoiling people. I just don't like so many manufacturers have been omitted. I'm looking forward to it and I'm getting it and I'm not meaning to shit on it but I'm speculative about certain areas of the game.

I don't think it was a choice to omit so may manufacturers, I would imagine that licenses are hugely expensive and being a relatively small studio costs may be an issue.

i dont know whether to get this on PC or PS4..any help? what are you guys going for, would be cool to have some FT races

I'm getting it on PC. Slightly larger grids and no restrictions on steering wheels. I might end up getting it on PS4 as well if enough of my friends get it.

a vote for each side...PC version is much cheaper, but i might prefer sofa racing to desk racing tbh. it will be a few weeks till i get it i expect. plenty of time to decide.

I hope the AI on Project Cars will not be rubber banded, just like it was on Driveclub.

I've not seen or heard of any rubber banding. The ai is one of games strong suits. This video shows how hard, but fair, the ai are:

Another thing I like about the ai is that you can set the difficulty as a percentage, rather than picking an arbitrary difficulty setting. So for example, you can start at 50% difficulty and slowly increase it until you find a sweet spot for your own skill level.

Reminds me of TOCA but with improved graphics. As long as we get the game we anticipated it to be then I'll be happy.
