LCFC FOX Posted 15 June 2015 Share Posted 15 June 2015 Great news as I loved a lot of games from the 360. Been waiting for this @Xbox: Get ready to play your #Xbox360 games on #XboxOne. #XboxE3 http://t.co/emuzzpbOMa
Charl91 Posted 15 June 2015 Share Posted 15 June 2015 If this is true, then it's a system seller for me.
Sol thewall Bamba Posted 15 June 2015 Share Posted 15 June 2015 Should have had it from the start. I switched over to PS4 this generation, if I want to play any of my old 360 games, I'll just play them on my 360.
Finnegan Posted 15 June 2015 Share Posted 15 June 2015 I'm waiting to see if it's discs or just ports you have to rebuy and download. If the latter they can just **** off.
Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 15 June 2015 Share Posted 15 June 2015 Worded very carefully. 100 games will be available when it launches, if you own the disc you can download it and play it for free. So 100 games compatible, the other 1000's not so. And when it was said 'if you own the disc you can put it in your system and download the game', so it's not running off the disc at all. foxes_rule1978 Posted 15 June 2015 Share Posted 15 June 2015 so can you do so on your current Xbox one?
Neil_LCFC Posted 15 June 2015 Share Posted 15 June 2015 Looks a very nice feature. I still haven't jumped on a XBONE or PS4 but own both the 360 and PS3. I have loads more games on 360 but was going to go PS4 next ,this may have just swayed me to go XBone.
z-layrex Posted 16 June 2015 Share Posted 16 June 2015 I dunno. I maybe used to backwards compatibility on my 360 like 10 times?
Jam Posted 16 June 2015 Share Posted 16 June 2015 I don't know about you guys but space is at a premium on my Xbox One. This is only going ro add to that if you indeed have to download the game.

Brenfox Posted 16 June 2015 Share Posted 16 June 2015 Same. Though can't you buy more memory for the console and attach it externally? Just buy an external hardrive. It's a big outlay but well worth it. Does anyone know when this is actually live?
Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 16 June 2015 Share Posted 16 June 2015 I dunno. I maybe used to backwards compatibility on my 360 like 10 times? Yeah backwards compatibility always seems like a nice feature, but when you get used to a snazzy new console and go back to the previous generation's games they usually don't hold up well at all. There are exceptions but generally I'm put off by the muddiness that you don't notice till you play newer games Having said that, I probably played GTA San Andreas (Xbox Original) on my 360 more than I did any other game. If full 360 compatibility came to Xbox One I'd definitely play through LA Noire again and GTA V but that's about it
LCFC BEAST Posted 16 June 2015 Share Posted 16 June 2015 In the BBC article it said the "newer Xbox One consoles". Does this mean it won't work for current Xbox One's?
Brenfox Posted 16 June 2015 Share Posted 16 June 2015 In the BBC article it said the "newer Xbox One consoles". Does this mean it won't work for current Xbox One's? They said its software based so it will be in an update.
Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 16 June 2015 Share Posted 16 June 2015 Hmm could be but surely the internals will be about the same? The Xbox 360 could play pretty much all original Xbox games because it included the original Xbox's chipset alongside its own (IIRC) - think it added quite a bit to development and production costs which is why they were put off from adding backwards compatibility to the Xbox One. My guess is that the Xbox one will use emulation, which is why it is currently a short list of compatible games with more to come. If that's the case, I'd have thought all Xbox One models will feature the same compatibility Edit: beaten to it
Danno Posted 17 June 2015 Share Posted 17 June 2015 I guess you won't be able to play MW2 on it?
Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 17 June 2015 Share Posted 17 June 2015 I guess you won't be able to play MW2 on it? Probably at some point - my guess is the most requested games will be the ones they try to get running earlier and all the CODs are bound to still be popular. God knows if there'll be any online function though
Jam Posted 17 June 2015 Share Posted 17 June 2015 Just buy an external hardrive. It's a big outlay but well worth it. Does anyone know when this is actually live? It certainly looks like it's becoming a necessity.
