Renart Posted 26 June 2015 Share Posted 26 June 2015 An Australian response: How do I root? You maybe should have learnt this in sex ed at school mate! Do you recommend it? Usually mate, but maybe not with an electric appliance! What are the advantages? You don't have to have that awkward morning after chat! Any decent websites I should take a look at? Just google 'Free Porn, Sex, Tube Videos', that should see you right!
Captain... Posted 26 June 2015 Share Posted 26 June 2015 I looked at rooting my Android phone mainly to clear some space deleting the preloaded apps, had a quick google and thought fvck me that seems way too complicated and likely to fvck up my phone and just deleted some apps I used instead. I may try again on my old phone when I upgrade but it really doesn't look easy, and seems quite risky. Why do you want to do it?
stripeyfox Posted 26 June 2015 Share Posted 26 June 2015 I'm not sure what the advantage is other than gaining access to paid apps for free (also known as stealing?) It looks too complicated for me! I'll stick to the official version!
The People's Hero Posted 26 June 2015 Author Share Posted 26 June 2015 Got a decent tablet but there's a hell of a lot of lockdown bloatware as well as locked down settings which affect Battery life. That is my motivation but I wondered if there were any further advantages or disadvantages to consider. If it takes much effort I probably just won't bother. Just buy nexus stuff and forget the bloat, rooting is OK but be careful about dodgy apps
The People's Hero Posted 27 June 2015 Author Share Posted 27 June 2015 I'm considering not bothering. Runs quickly enough and I only use really for email and Netflix/ spotify etc and usually at home. Battery life is pretty poor but I suppose I don't really need it to last hours.
