dpjfox Posted 26 July 2015 Share Posted 26 July 2015 he is worth the fee (especially if some recouped by offloading ulloa) as its a guaranteed 15 goals, assuming most reports have substance it appears we put cash on the table, how many others?, we can offer game time but if he is looking for london club/big wages , best leave this target and concentrate on midfield areas
st albans fox Posted 26 July 2015 Share Posted 26 July 2015 He only has a year left on his contract If Rangers are going to insist on 15 mill then that must impact on the salary he can demand

Sly Posted 9 August 2015 Share Posted 9 August 2015 Serious question. Do we need him and how will he fit in? If we decide we do. Just got Jamie to have a word with his mate!

Beaze Posted 9 August 2015 Share Posted 9 August 2015 I'd like him. Obviously, we did brilliantly yesterday but there were still lots of chances, incl one on ones, we didn't convert. In tighter games, that may prove to be the difference between points and comfortable survival and not. He's a goal scorer; not sure about Okazaki and Kramaric but I think it's something we lack. Beaze Posted 9 August 2015 Share Posted 9 August 2015 Okazaki IS a scorer, Kramaric will be. Both of those remain to be seen at this level. 33/1 anyway so not going to happen
Gerard Posted 9 August 2015 Share Posted 9 August 2015 I don't think Ranieri wants him anyway. We have Ulloa as a similar player and by picking Vardy & Okazaki yesterday maybe he like his strikers to be more mobile and hard working team players. I hope we don't buy him especially if we haven't sold Ulloa in the mean time.
Fox92 Posted 9 August 2015 Share Posted 9 August 2015 Vardy and Okazaki were superb yesterday, 100% effort and they didn't stop. You're not going to get that from Austin, he's a similar type of player to Ulloa.
Beaze Posted 9 August 2015 Share Posted 9 August 2015 Agree about yesterday but there are times when finishing will be as important as the work rate that others provide.
katieakita Posted 9 August 2015 Share Posted 9 August 2015 There will be times this season when we need to change our approach, Austin is a proven goalscorer, we have 5 strikers in our squad if one leaves as being suggested we would need a replacement, he would do very nicely. srbfox Posted 9 August 2015 Share Posted 9 August 2015 18 Goals in 35 apperences, at 12m quid. I really don't see why we shouldn't bid again. Yes we need to strengthen in other areas but in simple terms we just have to out score the opposition to win games.

As I said in another thread I think he's the upgrade on Leo. and 13m is the asking price - if he's worth 12 he's worth 13.
ARM1968 Posted 9 August 2015 Share Posted 9 August 2015 £13 million gets us a cracking striker and prevents anyone else getting the goal scoring machine.
Lestoh Posted 9 August 2015 Share Posted 9 August 2015 If we've got another £13m to blow, I'd really like to see that go on improving our weaker areas. 3 of our goals yesterday came from WINGERS, once our strikers settle I reckon we'll be fine for goals. Grewks Posted 9 August 2015 Share Posted 9 August 2015 If you stand still in the premier league....you can come unstuck. The midfield has to take priority first....but £12 mil for austin? We can afford it, would almost certainly ensure survival so why not?
