What's the most points scored in a season across all the professional English leagues?

Reading’s 106 I think.

not sure with 2 points for a win season, adjusted though

Just checked. Lincoln City 75/76 in the 4th division got 74 points (W32 D10 L4) which is also 106 points when adjusted to 3 points for a win.

So if Leicester got 107 points it’d be the highest ever points total in English Football history

Oh right so when our commentators bang on about second tier in its history, what they really mean is, the last 20 years or so.

Depends how they phrase it. If they say the word Championship it's the best in the last 20 years-ish. If they say second tier thats in the history of league football but there will be a few that don't know the difference. Bit like people saying Arsenal were the only side to be unbeaten in a league season but Preston did it a century ago in the old Division One.

Note I've changed it from "Reading's record" to the overall English Football points in a league season record - because that's what it is. Reading 05/06 and Lincoln 74/75 (adjusted for 3 points for a win) both hold the record for this - 106 points.

That droppable points total is going up nicely haha.

City lead the Championship in EVERY passing statistic: completed passes, total distance, progressive distance, completion %, medium-range completion %, long-range completion %.

Wait, what is this?!  So’ton are edging us on “short” completion % ?

Up your game lads.

As we play Sunderland tomorrow. Something I worked out a while ago.

In 2015-16 season, we officially passed the total final points of second place (Arsenal) by beating Sunderland 2-0 at the Stadium of Light on 10th April. Two Vardy goals if memory serves correctly

Absolutely correct - in my mind we won the league that day

Harry Winks is second in the World on counting correct passes in games in all major leagues, only Napoli midfielder Stanislav Lobotka is in front. Winks have a correct percentage of 95,1, Lobotka counting 95,4.

We need 12 more points to beat last seasons total. So 4 more wins and we’re probably safe. That could be by early November lol.

In a 46 game season it’s normally 50 points needed to be safe so yes 4 more wins and we are about safe. I only wish that was 12 more points to beat last season lol
