Its huge.

The interior is decidedly cheap looking for a £65k car.

Yes my immediate reaction was to google the price, some go up to £75K, could get an X5 for that, albeit a hybrid.

The exact reason we never considered one.

In fact EV cars appear to specialise in dreadfully cheap interiors!

We've just got a BMW i4 in the last couple of weeks.  The interior is essentially the same as the ICE BMW 4 series with a couple of tweaks.  It's a lovely place to be sat and the mileage / range we are getting is pretty solid.  getting over 300 miles of range per charge which in my head is about the equivalent you'd get for a tank of petrol. (albeit, we were coming from a diesel, so it's a bit of an adjustment for us) as we have home charging, it's been a nice change to not have to top up at the garage every week and it's costing us 2p per mile to drive.  i'll take £6.00 for 300 miles every day of the week.

the new Tesla M3 Performance looks a monster of a car for under £60k, 0-60 2.9 seconds, have improved the interior a bit  (added sports seats, extra screen in the back and even air vents around your neck/head) and made the outside look at bit meaner and can tell the difference between one versus a LR or SR.

People moan about Tesla's but they do get it right and you get bang for your buck big time. Best charging network out of them all as well by a long way

We test drive one when we were undecided on which way to go.   for us, the minimalist interior felt a little on the cheap side and there was lots of gaps  between components.... having test driven the tesla as well, we really didn't enjoy everything having to be done through the touchscreen... I was constantly taking my eyes off the road...

Anyone know anything about a Skoda Kodaiq?  I’m thinking about getting a used petrol one…. They look nice and have decent MPG and I squeeze all my dogs in!  Any thoughts?

Yep agree the interior is a bit naff, had a 330e before and that was a lot better, i get distracted a lot with the screen and i am surprised they were able to pass that as road legal as everything from window wipers through to glove box is controlled on it. The turning circle is to be desired as well, once you own one for a bit it is a really nice drive and you get used to it being so minimal.

with the BMW i4, we got two things which have entirely changed my driving experience and I'd find it hard to go back from.... we have a heads up display, which displays your satnav map and turn instructions on the windscreen (as well as your current speed) - so I literally never have to take my eyes off the road and then secondly (and I realise this has been around for a while) is adaptive cruise control.   my journey to work is 55 miles each way, mainly down the M42 and M40.... I can set my speed on the motorway and genuinely don't have to worry what the traffic is doing around me. I can literally just steer (albeit, the car does some of that for me as well) - I don't think I've ever felt more relaxed on a drive! :D

@tom27111 looks like I may be in the market for a new car soon. Just need something to get me to work and back (about 50 miles a day).

Thinking of going EV for the first time as it appears that's where the value is and literally just looking for cheap and cheerful.

Any recommendations on what models to look at? I see the leaf has been mentioned further up.

Appreciate any help bud, and will let you know when I'm actually looking at buying to see what you have, just waiting for a potential promotion to come through first.

A Leaf would certainly fit the bill. Looking around 13k for a good spec around 3 years old with below average mileage. I can certainly have a look what else we have in group stock that includes other manufacturers.

Give us a shout when you're ready.

Nice, I'll let you know when I'm ready 👍

Any other EVs worth looking at in that price range or just the leaf?

Just looking at what we've got, it's really the Leaf. It's even cheaper than a Renault Zoe. I'll keep an eye out for anything else.

No worries buddy, I'll get my research done on the leaf then 👍

Have to disagree, the interior of my IPace is just as nice as the interior in my ICE Jaguar, with added extras in the IPace.

I did test drive some with bizarre interiors though. I think some manufacturers were trying to hard to be different.

I couldn't deal with controlling everything through a Tesla screen.

The heads up display is a brilliant invention, speed and sat nav right in front of you. Adaptive cruise control is another great idea, takes a bit of getting used to but excellent on motorway or in heavy traffic.

Good luck if you can do it.  If I didn't have to steer and drive, I would definitely fall asleep.  (Or hopefully, stop for a nap.  Which I already need to do sometimes. But having to think about driving is definitely a help in alertness.)
